The Opportunity:

Join Flexport's Compliance team as a Health & Safety Manager, a pivotal role for an experienced professional with deep expertise in warehouse safety, regulatory compliance, and health hazard mitigation. You will be a subject matter expert and the "source of truth" for all warehouse and office safety programs across our fulfillment locations. This role requires a leader who can manage both on-site and remote safety initiatives, providing practical and creative solutions to complex safety challenges.

You will:

Program & Project Management

  • Serve as the subject matter expert and the "source of truth" for the team and associates across all warehouse safety and health programs.
  • Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive safety programs and policies from the ground up, including documentation, training, and auditing.
  • Identify programs that need to be built or improved and design special projects to meet departmental and company objectives.
  • Provide practical, creative solutions to complex safety problems, empowering internal and external teams to meet all regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure all safety training material is current and accurate, and provide training for associates and managers on regulatory requirements and best practices.

Incident Reporting, Investigation & Mitigation

  • Oversee all incident reporting, investigation, and root cause analysis for all warehouse locations.
  • Maintain meticulous safety logs and records in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Lead investigations into incidents and near-misses, identifying trends and developing proactive mitigation strategies to prevent future occurrences.
  • Implement and manage programs for health hazard mitigation and ergonomics to ensure a safe working environment.

Auditing & Process Improvement

  • Conduct and manage regular regulatory audits to ensure compliance with all OSHA requirements and other safety standards.
  • Continuously work to identify and improve safety processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness across all locations.
  • Design and implement administrative systems to ensure proper record retention across all safety programs.

You should have:

  • Experience

    • 7+ years of experience in warehouse or logistics safety management, with a heavy focus on OSHA compliance.
    • Proven experience designing and managing complex cross-functional safety programs.
    • Experience in a multi-site management role, including a mix of on-site and remote oversight.
    • Demonstrated experience in incident investigation and reporting, with a strong ability to conduct root cause analysis.
    • A proven track record of developing and delivering effective safety training programs.
  • Skills & Qualities

    • Deep knowledge of federal, state, and local safety regulations, with a mastery of OSHA requirements.
    • Superior organizational skills with a methodical approach and next-level attention to detail.
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
    • A "can-do attitude" and the courage to challenge the status quo to "see something broken? Fix it!".
