The Booking Holdings’ Global Internal Audit function reports directly to the chair of the Audit Committee. The main goal of the team is to provide independent insights, advice and assurance on business risks and controls to senior management, and to drive change with regards to Governance, Risk Management and Internal Controls. The Role: The Senior Audit Manager Technology role is part of the Global Internal Audit (GIA) team of Booking Holdings, reporting into the Director of Technology Audit. The GIA team has 30+ members, senior auditor and above, of which approximately half are technology focused. This role will be responsible for planning and leading technology and cybersecurity related audits of Booking Holdings companies, as well as supporting integrated audits of business areas with significant technology components and controls. Managing relationships with key stakeholders across our business units and functions, first and second line risk functions and external auditors is a key part of the role. This role will contribute to preparing the annual audit and the longer-term strategy of the GIA function.

This position is based in Amsterdam at the head office of Booking.com and involves occasional travel to other Booking Holdings companies.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the delivery and ensure quality of internal audits and reviews through the entire process - prepare, scope, plan, manage and execute - at Booking.com and other Booking Holdings companies.
  • Manage relationships and drive alignment with key stakeholders including senior management, Risk & Compliance and external advisors.
  • Prepare formal written reports and presentations for senior management and the Audit Committee.
  • Contribute to the annual audit plan and the Global Internal Audit Strategy and operating procedures.
  • Directly manage a team of audit professionals, including recruitment, coaching and performance management.
  • Identify and champion opportunities for data analytics, automation and AI usage to enhance audit results and drive execution efficiency.
  • Act as an ambassador for the Global Internal Audit (GIA) function and key contact person for business areas.
  • Add value by identifying and driving opportunities to improve and drive positive change in governance, risk management and internal controls.
  • Deliver continuous improvement of audit methodology and practices through the adherence of documented procedures and standards ensuring consistency of working practice and quality of audit team.
  • Maximum of 20% travel requirement globally based on the audit plan and engagement requirements.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Excellent knowledge of auditing IT systems and controls, including Cloud, in large scale, fast-moving environments.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience working in a Big 4 and/or Internal Audit function at a listed company, preferably technology or e-commerce.
  • A minimum of Bachelor’s (post-secondary degree) preferably in Technology or Computer Science.
  • CISA/CIA/CISSP/CRISC or equivalent designation highly desirable.
  • Good understanding of IT Control and Security Frameworks, such as COBIT; ISO 27001 and NIST CSF / SP 800-53.
  • Experience on data privacy/data protection as well as GDPR requirements and how to audit them is a plus.
  • Thorough understanding of the standards of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) and ability to fully comply with these standards.
  • Strong skills in negotiating, relationship building, problem solving, and timely problem escalation.
  • Excellent audit report writing and oral communication skills (proficiency in English).
  • Experience with data analytics and audit automation is a plus.
