Introduction to the job

As part of the strategy to advance our physical security capabilities, our Risk business assurance and security (RBA&S) team is seeking a Senior physical security specialist - employee protection for our global Physical identity team to keep ASML’s (tangible and intangible) assets secure.

The 2nd line Physical identity team currently consists of 8 people spread across various regions and is expected to grow to around 20 people in the coming years. This team operates in the 3 lines of responsibility model. In this model, the 1st line is responsible for managing risk (e.g. physical security operations), the 2nd line is responsible for setting requirements and challenging/verifying control effectiveness (e.g. physical security policy framework and physical security assessments), and the 3rd line provides independent assurance (e.g. internal audit).

Role and responsibilities

The Senior physical security specialist - employee protection brings senior expertise in physical security and is expected to build and develop a roadmap and capabilities to ensure ASML’s employees and executives are protected during travel and events. In this role, you will define, develop and implement policies, controls and capabilities in alignment with stakeholders and security architectures. In this position, you will:

• Define, develop and execute on a physical security employee and executive protection roadmap in order to mature this field of expertise in ASML;
• Define, develop and implement controls and capabilities to increase ASML’s resilience to new and existing internal and/or external physical security threats related to employee protection (e.g. travel, events);
• Provide expertise and advice to internal and external stakeholders on securing ASML’s people processes, in line with business and security requirements;
• Connect the people and physical security spaces and develop synergies and holistic, innovative solutions that seamlessly integrate;
• Collaborate with 3rd parties around employee protection and collect & translate external information towards ASML;
• Develop and maintain relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders.

The Senior physical security specialist - employee protection reports to the Manager physical security - employee and executive protection and is part of the RBA&S 2nd line Physical identity team.

Education and experience

The ideal candidate will have:

• Master degree in Security Management or equivalent.
• 5+ years’ experience with a focus on people processes (travel, events) and security.
• Demonstrable experience in program / project management and developing innovative capabilities.
• Sound understanding of security technologies, techniques and best practices, with a focus on (physical / digital) identity and security.
• ASIS certified (APP, PSP or CPP) or willing to obtain one

• Able to understand business and business processes and how physical security concepts can be optimally integrated in these;

• Able to translate (local) risk and threat profiles to definition of controls and execution, taking into account different cultural implications
• Able to convince others, change management savvy and deal with resistance.
• Able to summarize and communicate technical data to a non-technical audience.
• Able to engage with C-level executives
• Ability to build strong, trusting relationships with internal stakeholders, customers and suppliers.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
