Challenging position for the Africa & Middle-East Knowledge Group

The IBFD Knowledge Centre is home to most of the tax specialists within IBFD. It is a publications and research department with staff engaged in updating and reviewing IBFD’s publications, conducting research in international tax, and lecturing on various tax topics. The Knowledge Centre is comprised of several Knowledge Groups focused either on particular geographic regions or on specialist international tax topics. The research staff of the Knowledge Centre is drawn from all over the world, mainly having expertise in the tax systems of various countries, as well as specialisation in key areas of taxation.

The Africa - Middle East Knowledge Group is home to the various IBFD publications focused on the Africa and the Middle East regions, which include a variety of regional publication on corporate and individual taxation and other topics of growing interest such as the taxation of digital economy, tax compliance, BEPS, business and investment laws, etc. You will be engaged as a Tax Associate for the Africa/Middle-East region.

Main responsibilities

  • Monitoring and reporting on relevant tax developments in the Africa/Middle-East region
  • Tax technical editing of related IBFD publications
  • Writing notes, articles, surveys, updates, and other analytical material on various countries of the region
  • Building a strong relationship with local authors, correspondents, and allied organisations
  • Providing support to other departments of IBFD for example the International Tax Training and Government Consultancy Department
  • Participate in research projects run by IBFD’s think tank on Africa, the Centre for Studies in African Taxation and participate in the organization of the annual Africa Tax Symposium

Requirements

  • University degree in law, accounting, economics or other relevant area (a relevant post-graduate qualification is a distinct advantage)
  • 2 to 5 years' professional experience with a law or accounting firm, a governmental agency or an international organization dealing with (international) tax. The candidate should be knowledgeable in the basic international tax concepts and their interaction with domestic rules
  • Knowledge and experience of the tax system of at least one Arabic or French-speaking country in Africa and/or Middle East
  • Excellent command of the English language, and working knowledge of Arabic or French languages is required.

Salary & fringe benefits

We offer you:

  • A full-time (37 hrs) position with a starting gross monthly salary between €3,900 and €4,400, depending on background and relevant work experience
