Medior/Senior ALM Consultant

Mercer is a leading provider of services to pension funds and other financial institutions, delivering top-quality solutions. With around 70 different clients and a wide range of activities, the Wealth Financial Sector Clients team in Amstelveen is expanding.

The Wealth Financial Sector Clients department is responsible for serving financial institutions such as pension funds, insurers, and banks. Our services include strategic advice (including on the Wet Toekomst Pensioenen), certification, ALM studies, investment advice, risk management, and various other pension and investment issues.

The ALM department supports pension funds, insurers, and other institutional investors in all aspects of setting up and testing strategic policy. Mercer acts as an independent advisor. As an ALM consultant, you operate at the intersection of actuarial science and investment. You will often collaborate with investment experts, actuaries, and international colleagues. The ALM department (Amstelveen office) consists of a young and ambitious team of professionals and is part of the larger Wealth department of about 70 colleagues.

Your main responsibilities:

• Carrying out complex ALM calculations and translating them into understandable issues for the board of a pension fund, insurer, or employer.
• Advising clients on strategic issues based on current market knowledge.
• Guiding client projects based on ALM calculations.
• Participating in and/or presenting at client meetings.
• Effectively communicating Mercer’s point-of-view and promoting Mercer’s thought leadership.
• Keeping up with sector developments and applying them in your work.

Your qualifications:

• You have a relevant academic education.
• You have at least 7 years of relevant (consultancy) work experience in a pension and/or ALM and/or investment environment with a demonstrable track record.
• Knowledge of the Wet toekomst pensioenen is a plus.
• You possess excellent analytical, mathematical, and communication skills. This means you can clearly convey complex matters to clients and translate client questions into analysis and advice for the team.
• You have experience building tools in Excel and programming (common programming languages).
• You are client-oriented, accurate, proactive, independent, and a team player.
• Good command of Dutch and English, both spoken and written.
