Join Karsten International as a Logistic Planner Import

Are you the Logistic Planner Import who ensures millions of products are transported with care from one side of the world to the other? Do you thrive in a dynamic work environment, and is arranging, planning, and keeping an overview among your talents? Then we are looking for you!

As our logistics colleague, you are partly responsible for the inbound of approximately 900 containers per year. You organize and coordinate shipments, mainly transported from China to the Netherlands, making you an important link in the entire process.

You know which order is in which container on which ship, because you book the transport. If there is a delay, you are the first to notice and start anticipating it. You inform the parties involved and make adjustments where possible. To transport sustainably and leave no freight space unused, you book freight efficiently by combining different orders. You also conduct market research on shipping rates to make sound decisions regarding costs.

You are never alone with us. As the Logistic Planner Import, you join forces with your closest colleagues in the supply chain department and support each other where necessary. You help colleagues in the outbound department during peak times, allowing you to grow in knowledge and skills in the supply chain. You also work together with the purchasing and sales departments to achieve the best results: thorough planning and smooth transport. Thanks in part to your efforts, our products are in the stores of major retailers as planned.

Your tasks:

  • Booking (sea/rail/air) freights and maintaining contact with shipping companies and suppliers.
  • Administering data of bookings in the ERP system.
  • Accurate tracking of transports and requesting booking information.
  • Booking loads efficiently, for example by checking whether orders can be combined in containers.
  • Keeping involved colleagues informed to ensure that the process continues to run smoothly.
  • Comparing prices of shipping companies and ensuring the right choice of carriers through negotiation and making agreements about rates.
  • Checking sales orders and passing them on to the external warehouses.
  • Organizing road transport.

Your Talents:

You are good at switching, have initiative, work systematically, and know how to keep an overview at all times. The process of transport and logistics holds no secrets for you. You have good problem-solving skills and set the right priorities.

  • Solid experience with supply chain, logistics, and planning.
  • Several years of experience in a similar position.
  • Knowledge of international (sea, rail, air) transport.
  • Experience with ERP systems, preferably with Business Central.
  • Thorough knowledge of the Dutch and English language in written word.
  • HBO thinking and working ability.
