Career at Damen

We offer you an Ocean of Possibilities. Join our family.

About us
Hop aboard Damen Naval; the naval division of the family-owned Damen Shipyards Group, where 12,000 professionals work worldwide. Damen Naval delivers advanced naval vessels to clients all over the globe. By implementing the most innovative technological developments in practice, we continue to push the boundaries of the shipbuilding industry. You can be part of our team! Are you ready for duty?

The role

As a Data Analyst at Damen Naval, you'll hold a key position in empowering departments and management to make informed, data-driven decisions. Joining our Data Management team within IT, you'll act as a crucial liaison between the business and data management, overseeing the complete data lifecycle from secure gathering to effective leveraging. Your insights will shape the design of next-generation ships, boost internal efficiency, and extend winning deals. Due to the highly sensitive nature of naval shipbuilding, all our data is managed on-premises using SSIS/SSAS and Power BI report server, ensuring a robust and secure environment.

Key accountabilities
In this role, your responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders (engineers, project managers, supply chain) to understand data needs and deliver actionable insights.
  • Ensure robust data governance, including ownership, quality rules, risk profiling, and definition management.
  • Perform statistical analysis to identify trends and anomalies, then generate compelling reports and visualizations.
  • Support and train end-users on reporting tools and best practices.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for data analysis to boost operational efficiency and streamline processes.
  • Stay current with data analysis tools and methodologies, continuously improving our insights.

Skills & experience
We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience providing business-critical insights through data analysis.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience with Power BI or SSAS data analysis tools.
  • Direct experience with on-premises data environments (SSIS/SSAS) is highly valued.
  • Experience in data management within a large international company. Experience working in the maritime, defense, or manufacturing industry is considered a plus.
  • Excellent references, as a security screening is part of the hiring process.
  • Permanent EU citizenship and passport are both required. Candidates with EU (work) visa or with both an EU and non-EU nationality and/or passport are not eligible in accordance with the requirements imposed by the military nature of our projects.

What we offer
At Damen Naval, we highly value our employees, and we will support your professional and personal development. We also provide our employees with:

  • A competitive salary and 8% holiday pay.
  • 27 holidays and 13 ADV days.
  • Travel allowance of 23 cents per kilometre.
  • PME-pension arrangement with an employer contribution of 60%.
  • Profit sharing based on company results.
  • Flexibility to work from home up to two days a week.
  • Additional benefits including a bicycle plan and company fitness.

Please note that due to the military nature of our projects, only candidates who have permanent EU nationality can be considered for vacancies at Damen Naval. Unfortunately, we are not allowed to process candidates who (also) have a non-EU passport or nationality.

A pre-employment and security screening and investigation form part of the recruitment process.
