Your contribution to building a Feadship
At De Voogt Naval Architects, we are responsible for the design, basic engineering, and all calculations required to build custom superyachts. We are the technical and creative heart of Feadship, and the home of all research and development.

As an intern, you will make a meaningful contribution to this. Whether it’s structural design, mechanical engineering, or naval architecture, your work will involve precision, calculation, and problem-solving, powered by both insight and ingenuity. Will you help turn dreams into reality?

This is what you will do as an Intern Data Science / AI

Feadship builds the world’s most exclusive superyachts. Every day, we work on technically cutting-edge projects where innovation and custom design go hand in hand. The amount of available data from our fleet is growing rapidly, and so are the opportunities to generate valuable insights for design and engineering through machine learning and AI.

Within our specialist team, we are looking for a curious and analytically strong intern who wants to work with real datasets from our Feadship fleet, such as sailing behavior, energy usage, and performance data. Together, we will explore how existing AI models, including machine learning and deep learning architectures, can be further refined to enable more accurate predictions and more effective optimizations.

You will have the opportunity to:

• Conduct structured literature research, an essential skill to build a solid theoretical foundation and position your work within the broader research landscape.

• Work with existing AI models, learning how to interact with them, evaluate their outputs, and apply them in practical optimization scenarios.

• Experiment with optimization strategies (such as evolutionary algorithms and gradient-based methods) to steer real-life designs toward better outcomes early in the process.

Requirements

• You are enrolled in a bachelor’s (applied sciences or academic) or master’s program in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Mathematics, Applied Physics, Informatics or a related technical field

• You currently reside and study in the Netherlands

• You are analytical, self-motivated, and enjoy solving complex technical problems

• You have programming experience, preferably in Python

• You are familiar with version control and collaboration tools, such as Git and GitHub

• You have a keen interest in AI and in applying models to real-world technical datasets
