Senior Mechatronics Systems Technologist

You will Lead the Mechatronics Technologies competence across Innovation Engineering. Help shape future capabilities in Mechatronics aligned with industry trends and Philips business needs. Serve as a bridge between cutting-edge academic/industry research and practical application within regulated medical device environments.

Your role:

Technology Leadership:

  • Define and evolve the mechatronics technology roadmap, with a strong link to digital- and AI applications.
  • Identify gaps in current capabilities and develop plans to close them.

Expert Contribution:

  • Drive mechatronics design in product and system development, including modeling, simulation, and analysis.
  • Select optimal sensing and actuation strategies, and apply advanced control techniques including AI-based methods.

Competence Building:

  • Mentor team members across locations (e.g. Eindhoven and Pune).
  • Be a trainer – take ownership of the Mechatronics training curriculum and organize company-wide trainings with support of the Philips University
  • Champion AI, model-based design, and system performance innovations.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Act as an internal consultant across projects.
  • Engage externally with universities, consortia, and industrial networks to stay ahead of trends and attract top talent.

You're the right fit if:

Must-Have Qualifications:

  • Academic thinking level: PhD or MSc in Mechanical, Electronics, or Mechatronics Engineering (focus on Dynamics & Control).
  • 10+ years of experience in mechatronics and hardware/system design.
  • Deep expertise in control theory, sensing & actuation, and AI for control systems.
  • Strong stakeholder and communication skills.

Strong Preferences:

  • Demonstrated leadership in regulated product development (preferably medical devices).
  • Thought leadership presence (conference speaking, academic collaborations).
  • Systems Engineering familiarity (V-model, requirements management).
  • Risk and quality compliance: ISO-14971, ISO-13485, EU-MDR.
  • DfSS/DMAIC certification (Greenbelt or Blackbelt).
  • Experienced in Matlab/Simulink, AI tooling (e.g., ML models, neural nets, MPC).
