How do you make our customers happy?

By ensuring that every procurement decision we make respects our commitment to society and the planet. As our Sustainable Procurement Manager, you’ll develop, promote, and implement a framework that transforms bol from a ‘traditional’ buyer into a force for positive change. With B Corp certification on the horizon and continuously evolving regulatory requirements (e.g., CSRD, CDP, CSDDD), you’ll build the expertise engine that ensures 13.7 million customers can shop at bol with a clear conscience, knowing their purchases support ethical business practices. Coaching a team of 2, you’ll translate complex sustainability requirements into practical procurement strategies that create value for all stakeholders – not just shareholders.

The biggest challenge

Devising and implementing a sustainable procurement function while the business is running at full speed – with no plans to slow down. How do you embed ESG criteria into sourcing decisions without disrupting operations? How do you pave the way for B Corp certification while anticipating and preparing for new regulations? You’ll need to strike the right balance between idealism and pragmatism, turning abstract sustainability ambitions into concrete supplier requirements. Succeeding means proving that responsible sourcing can happily coexist with and even contribute to commercial goals to an audience that ranges from sustainability evangelists to cost-focused skeptics.

What you'll do as the Sustainable Procurement Manager

As ambassador of bol’s sustainable procurement strategy, you’ll transform how we select, manage, and develop our supplier base. Reporting to Manager SRM & Sustainable Procurement, you’ll be the organization’s sustainability conscience and its capability builder. Teaming up with Legal, Finance, and business teams, you’ll embed ESG considerations into every procurement decision.

You’ll guide a project team of 2 FTE in designing supplier codes of conduct, sustainable procurement guidelines, and frameworks that prepare us for B Corp certification. Responsibilities range from high-level strategy consulting to hands-on implementation, including developing KPIs, monitoring supplier sustainability performance through tools like EcoVadis, and ensuring we meet our Scope 3 reduction targets.

As our expert in responsible sourcing, you’ll translate evolving regulations into actionable policies, design supplier engagement programs, and own critical reporting, including CDP. In short, you’ll bridge ambitious sustainability goals with the daily realities of procurement. Your key responsibilities include:

  • Design and implement a sustainable procurement strategy aligned with B Corp and ESG objectives
  • Lead change management initiatives, including training and communication programs
  • Ensure compliance with CSRD, CSDDD, and other relevant rules and regulations
  • Develop and monitor supplier sustainability KPIs and initiate improvement programs
  • Own various CDP reporting and Scope 3 emissions reduction initiatives
  • Build internal capability through policy development and stakeholder engagement
  • Coach a team of 2 project resources and 2 internal FTE to deliver sustainable procurement projects and drive CSDDD compliance consistently
  • Partner cross-functionally to embed sustainability in all sourcing processes

Why you can make a difference

You combine 4+ years of procurement/ESG experience with the ability to turn sustainability theory into procurement practice. Your track record clearly shows you can navigate complex regulatory landscapes while building pragmatic solutions. Success calls for exemplary stakeholder management skills – from briefing the CFO on CSDDD requirements to inspiring suppliers to improve their EcoVadis scores. Perhaps most important is your mindset: you believe that sustainable procurement isn’t about adding constraints but creating new sources of value.

  • - Checkbox champion Your idea of sustainability is filling out compliance reports – driving supplier transformation is a pipe dream
  • - Brilliant theorist Your theoretical frameworks are second to none. And impossible to make actionable.
  • - Eco-warrior You wholeheartedly want to improve the first two Ps in ‘people, planet, profit.’ Accounting can worry about profit.
  • + Inspiring playbook author You're energized by building something meaningful from scratch - creating the playbook others will follow
  • + Pragmatic idealist You can balance sustainability ambitions with economic realities, proving that good ethics make good business sense
  • + Transformer You thrive on transforming sustainability skeptics into champions through data, diplomacy, and demonstrable results

Where you'll work

You’ll join a rapidly transforming procurement domain, one that is evolving its focus from transactional buying to strategic value creation. As part of the newly formed SRM & Sustainable Procurement team, you’ll work with colleagues who believe procurement can be a force for positive change. Bol rewards both vision and execution – we need frameworks that work in practice, not proposals that only impress in presentations. And you’ll help prove that doing good is also good business. Ready to make sustainability more than a buzzword? Show us how responsible sourcing drives real results!
