You and your job

Navigating the fast-changing sanctions landscape is a challenge that requires quick iterations on innovative ideas. As an Applied Data Scientist, you will bridge the gap between data science and engineering. To do this successfully, you also master the fundamentals of the regulatory context we are in.

You will steer the development of scalable, production-ready solutions that future-proof our sanctions detection capabilities. From ideation to deployment, you are involved in the full lifecycle of technical innovation. In a team of primarily data scientists, you have a distinct role focusing on the technical expertise to actually implement solutions.

Practical examples

  • Building and hosting a scraper of websites of issuing authorities to keep sanctions compliance at the highest level
  • Create a business case with tangible results around a multi-agent screening alternative to the regular sanctions screening
  • Aid in bringing a Python-based machine learning model in production and connect the outputs of the model to the downstream applications

Facts & figures

  • You will join a close team of 8 ambitious and strongly analytical colleagues
  • More than 49,000 Rabobank colleagues around the world

Top 3 responsibilities

  • Turn Python-based proof-of-concepts into scalable, maintainable applications, and build APIs around machine learning models for integration with other systems
  • Develop an analytical solution and deploy the solution in the Azure cloud infrastructure
  • Identify sanctions risk gaps and develop a proof-of-concept model to address the gap and pitch to senior stakeholders

One of the responsibilities the team that you will join is to develop and improve sanctions models that screen millions of transactions and clients for sanctions risk. Due to the changing and growing domain, there are many opportunities for improvement. Once the business cases are aligned with the risk that should be covered, proof-of-concepts should be developed and when showing value productionalized. You are expected to take the lead in this end-to-end process.
