Introduction to the job

ASML is relentlessly driving the semiconductor industry’s ongoing quest for producing faster, smarter and more energy efficient chips. At the illumination group we’re at the core of this quest with the responsibility to illuminate the reticle image such that the best projection onto the wafer can be achieved. As such the illumination group has a high level of interaction with key stakeholders such as Zeiss (producer of the optical hardware), marketing, system engineering and customer service as well as regular interaction with customers. We are a young, dynamic, international and highly skilled workforce. With strong support of our suppliers we create the lithographic tools the industry needs to achieve its goals.

Are you looking for a challenge to design, test, integrate and troubleshoot state-of-the-art technology? Then you will enjoy this position in the EUV illumination group.

The job consists of

  • You take the technical lead in development of technically complex solutions in the EUV Illumination system. You lead the functional design, delivering solutions with full technical ownership. You take industrialization into account, and with the team you ensure that the solution works for the customer.
  • You guide and impact the work of your peers, typically 3-5 engineers. You take the lead in interfaces with suppliers, customers, other projects and other engineering disciplines in a less-defined environment.
  • You acquire knowledge on the relationship between illumination optics and the imaging performance of the entire system in support of the customer use case optimization.
  • You contribute to troubleshooting and solving issues with the installed base systems in the field. This involves analyzing data, connecting the results to physical phenomena, and steer towards the proper solution directions.
  • You specify, design, support implementation, qualify and integrate those solutions.
  • You like working in a multi-disciplinary project and collaborate easily with supplier, marketing, factory and customer support teams.

Education & Experience

  • BSc, MSc or PhD in mechatronics, engineering or physics with knowledge of optical systems
  • Experience with working in teams in a multi-disciplinary environment is required.
  • 5 to 8 years of work experience in a development and engineering environment.

Skills

  • Affinity with working a multidisciplinary environment related to complex systems.
  • Contributions to optical systems, their performance qualification, and applications of optical systems.
  • Affinity with mathematical optimization techniques and modeling is a plus.
  • Ability to think on a functional level and in design details.
  • Ability to integrate and troubleshoot functions in complex systems.
  • Excellent communicational skills.
  • Team player with ability to build network towards other parts of the ASML organization.
  • Self-propelling, showing initiative and drive, pragmatic attitude.
  • Good practice of MATLAB and Python programming.

Context of the Position
