What are you going to do?

To develop an isolated amplifier with 0-300V output voltage for an MRI-conditional medical application. The amplifier is intended to drive piezo valves, since this type of valve is not affected by an external magnetic field. The main purpose of this task is galvanic isolation of the power supply for the amplifier.

The rated voltage of the other circuits in the device is 24V. From this the >300V supply for the amplifier as well as a logic-level voltage must be made, which must be isolated according to the safety requirements from the standard for medical electronics.

If time permits, also the (analog) amplifier can be designed which controls the output voltage continuously between 0 and 300V.

The following aspects are covered:

  • Concept design: recognizing sub-functions, block diagram design
  • Schematic design: simulation of circuits, component selection, input into the CAD package
  • PCB layout
  • Testing in the lab
