We are seeking a talented and strategic Innovation Portfolio Manager to join our dynamic team.

About Role:

The Innovation Portfolio Manager will play a crucial role in overseeing a diverse portfolio of 20+ innovation initiatives. This individual will apply a consistent process for assessing the commercial potential of each initiative and implementing stage-gate methodologies to determine the appropriate allocation of resources. The Innovation Portfolio Manager will also be responsible for providing and monitoring performance metrics for individual initiatives, as well as the overall portfolio, ensuring alignment with the company’s revenue goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Portfolio Management: Oversee and manage a diverse portfolio of innovation initiatives, ensuring they are aligned with the company’s strategic objectives and revenue goals.
  • Stage-Gate Process: Implement and maintain a robust stage-gate process to assess the commercial potential of initiatives at various stages of development, providing recommendations for resource allocation.
  • Performance Metrics: Develop, track, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) for individual initiatives and the overall portfolio to evaluate progress, success, and alignment with business objectives.
  • Market Assessment: Conduct market research and analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and competitive positioning for innovation initiatives, ensuring informed decision-making.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams including R&D, marketing, finance, and operations to ensure successful execution and scaling of initiatives.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks associated with initiatives and develop mitigation strategies to address them proactively.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Communicate portfolio performance, insights, and recommendations to senior leadership and stakeholders, ensuring transparency and alignment across the organization.
  • Continuous Improvement: Foster a culture of innovation by identifying best practices, lessons learned, and opportunities for enhancing the innovation process and portfolio management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Innovation Management, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in portfolio management, innovation management, or product development, preferably in [industry/sector].
  • Strong understanding of stage-gate processes and metrics used to assess innovation initiatives.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Experience in market analysis and understanding of commercial viability and revenue generation principles.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and innovation management software.
