Join DEPT® as a Senior Data Engineer
JOB PURPOSE
Our Data Engineers support clients in architectural design, implementation, and research of complex data integration setups. They provide data consumers with the necessary data for their models and ensure continuous delivery on projects, periodically reviewing and challenging current tech stack decisions from operational, security, and cost perspectives. While our projects focus on digital marketing, we are open to expanding into new areas.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Steer clients with strong technical and communication skills.
- Guide clients with your expertise, advise them to become data-mature, and evangelize best practices within DEPT® and for our clients.
- Envision target architectures and implementations, and roll out implementation plans.
- Maintain clean coding standards, adhere to best practices, CI/CD, and peer upskilling.
- Brainstorm and conduct workshops with clients to identify new data opportunities.
- Engage in sales pitching, training organization, data product ownership, and data privacy.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR
- At least 5+ years of experience in a data engineering role, preferably in a digital agency environment.
- Hands-on experience with at least one of the following: data migration, data platform setup, end-to-end analytics & reporting setup, data warehouse setup (including modeling), data activation, data quality, data governance, real-time reporting.
- Hands-on experience on GCP (Google Cloud Platform), preferably with Cloud Functions, Cloud Run, Cloud Monitoring & Logging, Beam, Tentacles, and Pub/Sub.
- Fluent Python and SQL skills with real-life project experience.
- Experience with orchestration tools such as Airflow and DBT.
- Experience with one of the major analytical DWHs is a plus: BigQuery, Redshift, Snowflake, Databricks, Synapse.
- Experience with the following technologies is a bonus: AWS (and data-related proprietary technologies), Azure (and data-related proprietary technologies), Adverity, Fivetran, Looker, PBI, Tableau, RDBMS, Redis, Kafka.
- Located in and available to start working in one of the following countries: the Netherlands, Germany, UK, Denmark, Switzerland, Macedonia, Croatia, or Spain.
- Fair, kind, and reliable colleague, open to bi-directional criticism and feedback, autonomous but equally responsible.
- Working proficiency in the English language.
