The role

You will be part of the Strategic Communication team within APG Asset Management (AM)’s Fiduciary Management department, which supports our clients and our own organization with communication and stakeholder management for responsible investment (RI). This role is specifically focused on communicating APG AM’s own RI strategy.

You will work in close collaboration with the Responsible Investment Strategy & Partnerships (RI S&P) team, which supports the APG AM Management Board in defining APG AM’s RI narrative and communicating its RI strategy. This feeds into corporate strategy, external positioning as well as the alignment between APG AM’s strategy and that of our clients.

You like communicating complex investment strategies in accessible language for a range of internal and external stakeholders. You have experience in coordinating input from different departments in a large organization. You will develop messaging to support APG’s strategic positioning as a leading long-term responsible investor. You will initiate and contribute to communication products for APG AM and occasionally for clients.

You will be responsible for the internal newsletter that captures client insights, external developments in responsible investment and examples of how we implement our clients’ policies. You will write submissions to surveys and questionnaires requested by external partners or other stakeholders by gathering and coordinating input from different internal stakeholders. As needed, you may need to coordinate input for APG-wide reports (e.g. APG Stewardship report) in close cooperation with colleagues throughout the organization.

You will support the update of APG RI policies from a communications angle, and will contribute to a variety of other communication products, such as articles on the website, APG annual reports, and public responsible investment reports. You will help align communication between APG AM and our clients.

You will be based in Amsterdam Sloterdijk, with the possibility to work from home during part of the week.

What you bring

You are an experienced writer and communication expert in the area of responsible investment, who builds and maintains strong relationships across the organization. You have high standards for the quality of your work and organizational sensitivity. You are a team player who can work closely with various internal and external stakeholders.

Furthermore we ask for:

• at least master level education in a relevant field
• 8+ years of responsible investment industry experience (ideally in the asset management industry, but not required)
• the ability to identify new opportunities and build initiatives (innovation)
• strong communication, cross-functional relationship building and influencing skills
• experience in working with various communication IT-tools and design tools
• a can-do attitude, a self-starter
• the ability to thrive in an environment of constant change
• alignment with APG values
• a native-speaker level command of English, and excellent command of Dutch
