Job Description

Wolters Kluwer’s DXG division is looking for an experienced Software Engineer to play a key role in the development of a core service within our Health division. This role reports into the Development Manager for the Quizzing Platform and will work closely with other engineers and QA.

As a Product Software Engineer, you will build upon your foundational skills to develop and enhance software programs. With a focus on innovation and user satisfaction, you'll collaborate with your team to improve the performance and usability of our service, ensuring they meet the high standards our partner teams and users expect.

A good technical understanding of modern web development technologies, including Symfony and Angular, is essential for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Design, code, test, and debug software applications according to project requirements and coding standards.
  • Write and execute unit tests and participate in integration testing to ensure the reliability of software components.
  • Identify and fix software defects (bugs) and work on maintenance tasks to improve the overall stability of existing applications.
  • Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality, readability, and adherence to best practices.
  • Collaborate with team members and cross-functional teams to contribute to the software development life cycle.
  • Implement new features and enhancements based on specifications provided by senior team members or development manager.
  • Investigate and troubleshoot issues reported by users or identified during testing.
  • Optimize code for performance and efficiency without sacrificing readability and maintainability.
  • Analyze and understand project requirements, translating them into technical solutions.
  • Implement security best practices to protect sensitive data and prevent vulnerabilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • 4 or more years of relevant development experience.
  • 3 or more years of industry experience developing web-based applications using Symfony or Laravel.
  • Experience with any frontend technologies preferred.
  • Experience in cloud native application development (AWS) preferred.
  • Hands on experience with Docker preferred.
  • Good knowledge of modern technologies and software development patterns.
  • Experience of working with Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery and DevOps.
  • Understanding of integration/communication between multiple systems/applications.
  • Good experience with SQL (Aurora MySQL Preferred) and Redis.
  • Thorough understanding of Git Source control.
  • Working knowledge of building third-party APIs.
  • Strong analytical thinking, writing, and excellent communication skills a must.
  • Ability to properly document technical specifications.
  • Must have full understanding of the SDLC and its various stages.
  • Must have knowledge of agile development and practices.
  • Experience with Jira preferred but not required.
  • Experience with Bitbucket preferred but not required.
