Join Our Team as a Sales Intern

Job Description

We are looking for an ambitious and commercially driven sales intern to support the expansion of our Dutch Yellowtail into the high-end fish retail market in the Benelux. This unique internship combines sales strategy, fieldwork, and brand activation – aimed at supporting and stimulating product turnover in premium fish shops.

The intern will join the commercial team and work closely with our Commercial Director and our Business Development Managers. You’ll be directly involved in an ongoing retail activation project initiated by a previous intern. The groundwork has been laid — your role will be to build on it, improve, expand the reach, and test further.

As an intern, you will be responsible for:

  • Visiting luxury fish shops across the Netherlands/Belgium to pitch and promote Kingfish
  • Follow-up on POS (Point-of-Sale) material: coordinating delivery, testing impact, gathering feedback
  • Strengthening relationships with existing retail clients and identifying new ones
  • Actively engaging with distributors to coordinate demand from the retail channel
  • Analysing customer feedback and translating it into actionable improvements
  • Assisting in the further rollout of a custom sales toolkit, including training, leaflets, and QR-based recipe platforms
  • Contributing to post-implementation reporting and proposing scaling strategies

Requirements

  • You’re a Bachelor’s or Master’s student in a sales-related study program (business, economics, hotelschool, etc.) and looking for a full-time internship of at least 5 months
  • You’re based in or around Kats (Zeeland)
  • You have strong verbal and written communication skills in English. If you speak Dutch that’s beneficial
  • You’re skilled with MS Office tools

Benefits

  • You get the chance to join our ambitious team, in a hyper-growth company that has emerged as a leader in next-generation tech-driven sustainable aquaculture
  • You will learn about the trade of sustainable seafood
  • Internship reimbursement of €400 per month
  • The chance to develop yourself as a high-performing sales professional

The Kingfish Company

The Kingfish Company is a pioneer and leader in sustainable land-based aquaculture. We produce the yellowtail kingfish (also known as Ricciola/Hiramasa/Greater Amberjack) which is a highly versatile premium fish species, well known in the Italian and Asian fusion cuisines.

Our operation is based on three core principles: sustainability, respect for our fish, and the environment. These key principles are at the heart of our design, activity, and technology decisions. Production of our fish is based on advanced recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS), which create the ideal growth environment for kingfish, offer optimal biosecurity, and limit the environmental impact. Animal welfare is paramount and our fish are grown without the use of antibiotics and vaccines. Operations run on 100% renewable energy, sourced from wind, solar, and biogas and the company’s facilities operate on seawater to avoid wasting precious fresh water.

We are a fast-growing company and we are looking forward to welcoming new people into our team and exciting future. 🐟
