Lead the Future of Home Living as a Product Director

About the role:

The Product Director owns financial results (TO, IGM%, MS%) of the sub-product category. He/she manages the product portfolio and the product project portfolio in his/her scope to achieve financials results in line with VCP expectations. He/she is accountable for the alignment of his/her product platforms portfolio with the sub-category strategy. Responsible for leading the end-to-end product lifecycle from Value Proposition (co-developed with Marketing) to phase out within a sub-category, ensuring relevant capabilities are brought together along the innovation process and delivery of the project on-time, in-full, within cost. He/she manages a team of Product Project Managers and Product Managers. She/He will also ensure effective collaboration of multi-disciplinary teams, including I&D experts, Marketing and Operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the sub-category products portfolio and product projects portfolio results (complexity reduction, TO, IGM%)
  • Accountable for the product platforms portfolio management
  • Owns the product lifecycle end-to-end from Value Proposition, concept design, development, launch, and eventual phase-out, ensuring cross-functional collaboration throughout
  • Owns results for NPI, delivered on-time, in-full, within cost and on quality.
  • Accountable for the Project Value Proposition co-developed with Marketing and responsible for business cases that reflect market demands and business objectives aligned with the sub category strategy, collaborating with Marketing, (Lead) Markets and Finance
  • Works closely with Marketing teams to gather and apply relevant Market data and consumer insights for product development.
  • Manages cooperation of Product Managers and Product Project Lead to make sure technical development of the innovation is on track and in line with proposition and consumer needs and relevant I&D capabilities are brought in as needed
  • Partners with Operations to align sourcing, quality control, and production schedules, ensuring that the product is manufacturable within the desired time and cost parameters

KPI's

  • Product portfolio management at sub category level: TO, growth, IGM%
  • Project portfolio management (E2E till +6 months post launch): Project timeline, cost and quality: NPI / Product development within target cost, quality and timelines
  • Innovation Success: number of sub-category innovations and NPI post-launch performance (e.g., incremental penetration, market share, profitability), consumer satisfaction (R&R, RR%)
  • Sub category growth, IGM% improvements and market share gains
  • Complexity reduction (SKUs management) vs target (in %)
  • DFX contribution: number of initiatives launched, savings (based points), Category Growth: Increase in global market share and revenue for category
  • Platforming strategy formulated and aligned with the category vision

The skills and knowledge you’ll bring:

  • 10+ years of experience in product management or related fields, preferably in household durables or consumer goods
  • Proven ability to manage cross-functional teams and proven track-record of delivering projects on-time, within budget, and at quality
  • Strong understanding of market research and consumer insights with application to product development
  • Preferably an advanced degree in Business, Marketing, or Product Development
  • Strong analytical and communication skills for evaluating business cases and managing stakeholders
