The role

As the Project Manager Logistics at Damen Naval, you will be the central orchestrator of all logistical aspects within assigned naval shipbuilding projects. Leading a team of subject matter experts such as Expeditors, Supplier Quality Engineers, and/or Warehouse Managers, you will ensure seamless execution according to stringent project plans, quality standards, budgets, and timelines. You will manage and supervise the entire logistic process, guaranteeing the consistent application of Supply Chain policies. As a core team member of a Program Team, you will be the crucial link between external and internal stakeholders, ultimately ensuring the timely and efficient execution of factory acceptance tests, as well as the delivery of vendor data and components for our state-of-the-art vessels.

Key accountabilities
In this role, your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead end-to-end project logistics, managing all aspects from vendor expediting (both data and hardware), transport, import/export of goods (including export license application and management), execution of factory acceptance tests and warehousing (including warehousing abroad), ensuring on-time and within-budget delivery.
  • Drive strategic logistic planning, developing and executing project plans, proactively monitoring progress, and optimizing resource allocation for maximum efficiency.
  • Serve as the primary interface with external partners, including customers and suppliers, fostering clear communication and strong collaborative relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure uncompromising regulatory and quality compliance, guaranteeing adherence to all applicable requirements and specifications to maintain operational integrity.
  • Actively evaluating and enhancing logistics tools, processes, and performance to cultivate a culture of excellence within the sub-department and drive necessary process adjustments in collaboration with the Department Manager Logistics.

Skills & experience
We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications:

  • Proven expertise (5+ years) in managing complex logistics within project-driven, ideally shipbuilding or similar technical environments.
  • Demonstrated success in leading diverse logistics activities, including international shipping, customs, and vendor management.
  • Strong project management acumen, ideally with IPMA C or equivalent certification, and familiarity with supply chain best practices.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management abilities, enabling effective interaction and negotiation with internal and external parties.
  • Proactive and analytical problem-solving skills, coupled with strong organizational and planning capabilities to navigate logistical challenges effectively.
  • Excellent references, as a security screening is part of the hiring process.
  • Permanent EU citizenship and passport are both required. Candidates with EU (work) visa or with both an EU and non-EU nationality and/or passport are not eligible in accordance with the requirements imposed by the military nature of our projects.
