We consider enjoyable and easy work as very important, which is why our office is in one of the most stunning historical buildings right in the city center of Haarlem. It boasts a large and inviting office garden, views overlooking the Spaarne river, and bars and restaurants within a short stroll. While we work hard towards shared goals, we also provide space for everyone to work on solutions and new plans in their own unique way.

What does your role as an Intern in Information Technology look like?

Since we design, build, and sell our own online products, you have the opportunity to contribute and participate in diverse areas.

You’ll get a very good impression of direct interaction with end-users, the consequences of (not too often) failing software, team meetings, business goals, and hardcore design and coding sessions.

On top of the requirements from your educational institution, we will agree on an internship assignment in which one of the following themes is central.

• Design of our apps UX / UI.
• Development in PHP / NodeJS / Angular / React.
• Administration of Cloud Infrastructure & Databases.

Based on your interests, motivation, and knowledge and experience, you can likely fulfill a very challenging role in one of these areas. In everyday practice, you work in a small, efficient team with a direct supervisor who has a lot of experience in these areas and is also familiar with the completion of internships at the level of your education.

About the product stack

As a techie, here’s some teasers about our stack that you’ll be interested in.

• Google Cloud Platform hosts all infrastructure and provides limitless, industry leading services.
• Requests are handled via serverless functions or containerized Cloud Run or App Engine instances.
• The frontend needs refactoring and is fully written in JS/AngularJS/React.
• The backend is written in PHP and NodeJS and has an easily extendable API.
• Core data is stored in MySQL and we are flexible in using Redis, Datastore and others.
• Open API in NodeJS using OAuth2/OpenIDConnect for clients, which we are migrating all users to.
• Android and iOS apps for all end users are up for a total interface and UX makeover.
• Our devops street is setup properly and enables easy extending of core and feature software.

Moneys & More

We are always open for a good conversation to strike a deal, but for internships, we apply the following fixed conditions.

• Internship allowance of €400 – €550 per month.
• Present at the office at least 4 days a week.
• HBO study “Information Technology (NL / EN)” third or fourth year.
• Execution of research with advice and/or a UX/UI/Dev production.
