Internship: Group Quality

About us

At our headquarters in Gorinchem, within the Damen Shipyards Group, there is the department Group Quality. A department that supports the implementation of a suitable framework to ensure Damen’s way of working within the scope of strategic goals, operational excellence and sustainable growth. Through adequate governance, monitoring and reporting we strive to achieve a standard quality within the whole business. Supporting the implementation of lots of changes is a part of this, as our industry is ever changing itself. The Group Quality has a focus on business process management and the continuous improvement and support of this. Setting the standard, creating group mandates and becoming proactive instead of reactive.

The role

As a student working for the Group Quality, you will work with your own assignments which is part of team effort. You have the entire team at your disposal for guidance. Depending on your background, study and interest, we will specify the assignment and workload together.

The role demands that you have excellent communication skills, as you will be working alongside multiple stakeholders and partners. Some potential assignments:

• Capturing policy implementation effectiveness as part of CSRD reporting and ESG requirements.
• Alignment of strategic and operational goals.
• Business case for adequate document management and control using MS 360 and potential need for a standalone document management tool (includes what, why and how).
• Damen’s way of working- education and communication program (identify what, how, materials, event coordination, etc.).
• Structuring continuous improvement.
• Reporting process and metrics.
• Optimizing and looking for trends in customer requirements to see if our offers and solutions are sufficient. Integrity next and Ecovadis are tools to use for this assignment.
• A broader assignment related to business process management with a mix of ESG, quality and more.

Key accountabilities

You will be responsible for reporting, providing frameworks for different types of processes and implementing the new standards. You may work with stakeholders, monitor improvements and look into the performance. We expect you to do this independently but of course you will have a mentor available to you. The Group Quality Manager is your daily supervisor.

Skills & experience

At least several skills/experiences from the following list are required to be considered:

• BSc/MSc student with an interest in business management, governance and policy management
• You are a student within the fields of HR, Industrial Engineering, Business Communication, Data Analytics or something similar.
• English communication skills are mandatory, Dutch is preferable.
• You are fulltime available, as soon as possible.
