As an Associate Director for the Maritime Structures, you manage a team and corresponding portfolio of small to complex maritime design projects. Your expertise, along with your leadership skills, are crucial to the success of our organization. Are you ready for your next step?

What you will do

We are looking for an Associate Director for our Maritime Structures team. This is a team of over 25 enthusiastic experts, all based in the Netherlands, in the field of:

  • Project and technical management of maritime design projects
  • Costing and Contract specifications
  • Inspections, contract management and construction supervision
  • BIM coordination & Modelling (Revit, Civil3D) of maritime design projects

You will work closely with the adjacent team of geotechnical and structural engineers and its Associate Director but also with the port consultancy teams in The Netherlands. We also collaborate with our international offices such as in the UK, Vietnam and Mozambique.

Our key principles are collaboration, support and innovation. We work globally on innovative maritime projects, varying from quay wall design and renovation to supervision of large land reclamation projects. Clients range from private port authorities to international financiers, from the Dutch seaports to internal port development project from Africa, Asia to South America.

Your role will be to:

  • Take operational lead within the group by owning business development, proposals and fostering strong collaborations with other teams.
  • You will oversee projects and manage the team’s project portfolio with corresponding risks, and serve as project director.
  • You work with the team to ensure workload is well distributed, balancing personal development goals with project needs.
  • Ensure the growth and vitality of the team. You will proactively recruit and retain talent, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development. Your mentorship and coaching will help team members excel in their roles and ensure their well-being.
  • Maintain high quality and continuous improvement of our core services, implementing digital tools and automation. You support initiatives and the entrepreneurial mindset of the team.
  • You will act as project manager and/or consultant to projects the remainder of your time.

The team is part of the Advisory Group Maritime & Renewables. The AG comprises of 170 colleagues working together in the fields of maritime consultancy, engineering and renewable energies. In your role, you work closely with 5 other Associate Directors in the AG. Together, you drive our strategic vision: sustainable, innovative and digital consultancy and engineering services with a positive impact on planet and society.

You are willing to explore new business opportunities, support initiators, and act as a critical friend. You have an affinity with standardisation and automation of our services.

Furthermore you:

  • Hold a MSc or BSc degree, preferably in fields related to civil or maritime engineering
  • Have a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in managing complex maritime design projects and project teams.
  • Have affinity and enthusiasm for project and technical management of maritime design projects
  • Are fluent in English and Dutch. Another language (such as French, Spanish, Arabic) is a plus.
  • Are able and willing to work in our offices in Delft, Amersfoort and Nijmegen, as well as to travel abroad from time to time.
