The role

As interim Systems Engineer Marine Systems- Systems Architect at Damen Naval, you will ensure project processes comply with contracts and regulations, oversee design and engineering deliverables, and safeguard design integrity. You will bridge teams, foster collaboration, and guarantee adherence to high-level functional and technical requirements.

Key accountabilities

As interim Systems Engineer Marine Systems- Systems Architect your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading interdisciplinary design reviews, verifying engineering documents.
  • Driving technical excellence through requirement management and solution development.
  • Analyze and assess technical requirements related to the integration of marine systems, products, and processes.
  • Ensure technical compliance of engineering documents, including traceability of requirements to contracts.
  • Drive multi-disciplinary collaboration to deliver optimal solutions aligned with project goals.
  • Oversee customer and classification body reviews, addressing comments to achieve agreement on requirements.
  • Perform design verification and contribute to system testing, including FAT, HAT, and SAT processes.
  • Participate in milestone meetings and ensure project deliverables meet schedule and quality targets.
  • Expedite internal and external project contributions, ensuring timely engineering documentation delivery.

Skills & experience

Damen Naval is looking for candidates with the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor or Master degree in engineering or related discipline combined with a minimum of five years of hands-on experience with engineers, suppliers, subcontractors, and project managers in shipbuilding or related industries.
  • Minimum five years experience in shipbuilding or a related industry with expertise in Marine Systems engineering.
  • Proven project management capabilities, a strong technical background in Marine Systems, and experience in complex system manufacturing or subcontracting.
  • Proficiency in English both written and verbal and German language skills are a big plus.
  • Excellent references antecedents as a pre-employment security screening is standard part of the recruitment procedure.
  • Permanent EU citizenship and passport are both required and candidates with NL/EU (work) visa or with both an EU and non-EU nationality and/or passport are not eligible in accordance with the requirements imposed by the military nature of our projects.

  • Travel allowance of 23 cents per kilometre.

This temporary assignment is exclusively offered on a secondment (detachering) or temporary employment contract basis. Freelance or ZZP agreements are not considered due to current Dutch legislation.
