Sourcing Developer

IKEA is on a journey to transform from a traditional ‘cash and carry’ retailer to an omni channel retailer. With our vision at heart - creating a better everyday life for the many people - we have a clear focus on a seamless shopping experience in all of our touch points. For this journey we need ambitious professionals with an entrepreneurial spirit that bring in relevant experience and are eager to contribute to this large-scale development of our organization.

We are currently looking for a new colleague to join our Customer Fulfilment department as a Sourcing Developer. In this role, you will play a key part in securing fulfilment on the market in an end-to-end perspective by enabling the prerequisites for excellent quality in execution.

A day in your life with us

As a Sourcing Developer, you'll be responsible for securing long term sourcing development and implementation for customer fulfilment capacities utilizing blended sourcing options. You will drive the Fulfilment Development Process in the market, build market intelligence, develop a healthy pool of potential service partners and cultivate long-term supplier relationships. Your work will directly contribute to making capacities available for Customer Fulfilment whenever and wherever needed. You will:

  • Develop the IKEA home delivery network.
  • Secure long term capacities for Customer Fulfilment whenever and wherever needed.
  • Negotiate prices and contracts with our external partners.
  • Lead assigned sourcing activities, projects and initiatives in the market.
  • Ensure the Customer Fulfilment sustainability agenda is included in all aspects of the business.

Our team within IKEA

It’s hard to imagine, but IKEA started out as a small mail-order business in Älmhult, a village in the Swedish countryside. It can now be found in 63 countries offering a unique range of products. Working at IKEA means working in a world of ideas. A world that is described by our own colleagues as a workplace where everyone is welcome and you can be yourself. Where together we make a difference for the many people and the planet. But also, a workplace where you determine your own career steps and where there is plenty of room for your practical creativity and ideas. And all this while working in a nice team with colleagues who are always there for you and support you when needed.

Working with the Fulfilment Sourcing team at IKEA is an exciting and dynamic experience. The team is dedicated to finding innovative solutions that enhance the IKEA OMNI channel network, ensuring seamless integration across various platforms. They are constantly on the lookout for opportunities to reduce costs while maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency. A successful candidate will collaborate with a creative team that is deeply involved in identifying and analyzing services, with a strong focus on social and sustainable responsibility. This role requires a blend of analytical skills and creativity, as well as a commitment to IKEA's values.

"Come join us in developing sustainable and efficient last mile solutions by creating and maintaining internal and external supplier relationships"
Dick Hartog, Sourcing Analyst

At IKEA, we think it's important that you can be yourself. We are looking for someone with a collaborative mindset, who excels at building relationships across the organization and has strong communication and negotiation skills. You are customer-oriented, seeing the customer first and considering the impact on the customer when taking decisions. Furthermore, you enjoy applying a strategic, tactical and operational approach for analyzing business opportunities from a customer/market perspective and are inspired by challenging situations. Besides this you have:

  • University degree in logistics, economics, business administration or relevant working experience in strategic sourcing.
  • 2-4 years working experience in a sourcing or procurement environment (strategic sourcing preferred).
  • Experience in developing business development roadmaps, contract management, business analysis and project management.
  • An experienced and confident negotiator
  • Good business understanding and excellent knowledge of Last-Mile logistics, warehousing operations and installation/assembly/rental service.
  • Financial competence and understanding of the financial impact on the total network.
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal.

Good for the planet and for you

Whatever we are doing today, we will do a little better tomorrow. If we work together we can care for people and planet. And IKEA will take good care of you too. Start as Customer Fulfilment Sourcing Developer for 38 hours per week, based in Haarlem:

  • You will receive a 13th month and 8% holiday pay. These will be paid out in December and May as standard, but you can also choose to receive them monthly.
  • A collective bonus scheme. This is determined annually and amounts to a maximum of 150% of your gross monthly salary.
  • Travel expenses for public transport are reimbursed 100%. Do you live within a radius of 5 to 20 km from the IKEA store? Then you can also opt for a lease bicycle. Are you traveling by car? Then you will receive a travel allowance up to a maximum of 243 euros per month.
