Our Business Area (BA) Markets is looking for the right person to fill the position as

Director Compliance & Operational Risk Management

for our offices in Hamburg, Amsterdam, Stockholm.

About the Compliance & Operational Risk Function

The independent Compliance & Operational Risk function within BA Markets plays a key role in supporting and challenging the business. By promoting a strong compliance culture and effective operational risk management, we help reduce risks and ensure that BA Markets operates with integrity.

Our work includes identifying, assessing, advising, controlling, monitoring, and reporting on compliance and operational risks. The scope of our responsibilities spans trading compliance, know-your-counterparty procedures, responsible sourcing, and the overall efficient management of operational risks across our operations.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Reporting to the Head of BA Markets and the Vattenfall Risk Committee
  • Leading a team of 9 employees located in Sweden, Hamburg and Amsterdam
  • Leading the implementation and regular review of frameworks and management systems
  • Driving and conducting risk assessments in complex areas, ensuring risks are identified, assessed, mitigated, and monitored
  • Leading and supporting the handling of operational incidents, including root cause analysis and follow-up on improvement actions
  • Building strong relationships across the business to foster a culture of Compliance & Operational Risk management
  • Collaborating closely with compliance and risk functions across Vattenfall, as well as with relevant authorities and industry associations.

Your profile

Your profile:

  • Master’s degree in Law, Business Administration, or equivalent
  • More than 10 years of experience in relevant roles, ideally within the trading business
  • In-depth knowledge of regulations and laws related to compliance requirements in trading environments
  • Strong understanding of compliance and risk management frameworks, as well as industry best practices
  • Proven leadership experience
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex topics clearly and confidently
  • Proven experience in stakeholder management at senior levels
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
