Job Description
The Commercial Director will spearhead the growth of the Food & Feed testing business in the Benelux, focusing on driving organic growth and increasing market share. This role demands a commercial leader with a strategic mindset to develop and execute impactful sales and marketing strategies in a highly matrixed organization. The Commercial Director will play a central role in implementing best-in-class processes to elevate Eurofins’ position in the market.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
General Leadership & Strategy:
- Lead and inspire the Food & Feed business to achieve its growth objectives in line with Eurofins' leadership principles, fostering a culture of high performance, collaboration, and innovation.
- Partner with Managing Directors (MDs) and leadership teams to define and communicate a clear vision, business objectives, and growth initiatives across the business units.
- Drive an open, creative environment that promotes problem-solving, new business development, and enhances Eurofins' value proposition in the marketplace.
- Represent Eurofins as the key commercial stakeholder (account executives) across relevant holding and operating companies, acting as a sparring partner at C-level.
- Lead the planning and execution of marketing campaigns, including digital, content, events, trade shows, and PR, in collaboration with regional and group teams.
- Enhance the positioning of Eurofins Food & Feed through brand development, digital visibility, customer engagement campaigns, and thought leadership initiatives.
Strategic Business Development:
- Develop and execute comprehensive sales and marketing strategies to increase market share, ensuring the growth of Eurofins’ testing services in both the Food and Feed sectors.
- Lead initiatives to expand the service and product portfolio, identifying opportunities for new services, and optimizing existing offerings to drive profitability and customer loyalty.
- Work cross-functionally with leadership teams to address competitive positioning, sales effectiveness, cost management, and business development opportunities.
- Oversee Key Account Management to strengthen relationships with strategic clients and secure long-term partnerships.
Operational Excellence:
- Oversee the setup of customer-centric KPIs to track performance and identify improvement opportunities.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to analyze business performance, making data-driven decisions to improve efficiency and performance.
Brand & Market Presence:
- Strengthen Eurofins' market presence through consistent and impactful branding, content, and marketing communications.
- Lead the development of positioning strategies that clearly differentiate Eurofins’ services in a competitive landscape.
- Promote Eurofins as the leader in the food and feed testing industry via external channels, including conferences and industry publications.
Team Leadership & Development:
- Support and develop a high-performing commercial team in a matrix organisation, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.
- Mentor and coach senior leaders, ensuring that they are effectively managing their teams and driving commercial success.
- Drive and support the recruitment and development of top-tier commercial talent to strengthen the sales teams and support future growth initiatives.
- While there is no direct team reporting line initially, you will collaborate with sales and marketing professionals across business units, providing strategic direction and informal leadership.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in a senior commercial leadership position within a growth-oriented business, with a proven track record of sales and marketing and business development.
- Extensive experience in organic growth strategies and market share expansion within the Food & Feed or related industries.
Education:
- Bachelor´s degree in Business Administration, Chemistry, Life Sciences, or a related field.
- Master’s or PhD degree in a relevant field is highly preferred.
Skills & Abilities:
- Proven success in developing and executing sales and marketing strategies that drive growth and increase market share.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for identifying and seizing new business opportunities.
- Strong understanding of customer relationships, competitive strategy, and value proposition development.
- Exceptional leadership abilities with a proven track record of building and leading high-performance teams.
- Fluency in English and Dutch; additional European languages are a plus.
- Willingness to travel frequently within the Benelux to customer sites and Eurofins locations.
