Computer Science Graduation Internship: Scanner Performance Analytics Tooling

Introduction

ASML designs, develops, and integrates markets and services with advanced photolithography systems used by major global semiconductor manufacturers to create chips that power a wide array of electronic, communications, and information technology products. These machines produce large amounts of data, of which the value can only be extracted by Data Science.

Curious about working with sophisticated data sets using a well-known analytics platform – TIBCO Spotfire, in collaboration with ASML employees to build insightful analytics visual dashboards?

Your assignment

During this assignment, you will build a Python-based data processing back-end, and Spotfire-based front-end to analyze, engineer & visualize the ASML scanners data for productivity and/or defectivity diagnostics (the specific direction will be discussed during a potential interview).

The assignment will include, but is not limited to:

  • Getting familiar with the ASML scanner productivity and/or defectivity data landscape.
  • Collecting functional & usability requirements from ASML employees/stakeholders to generate a novel productivity/defectivity data framework & analytics and insights methodology.
  • Building Python-based data processing back-end using MS Databricks within ASML in-house platform.
  • Building a Spotfire dashboard to visualize the results from the back-end.
  • Writing a report (detailed (e.g. UML-based) tool design documents, developer & user manual PPTs).

Your profile

To be a perfect match for this internship, you:

  • Are a master student with an educational background in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related;
  • Are looking for a graduation/thesis project to finalize your studies;
  • Excel in Python programming skills;
  • Preferably have Spotfire experience and are familiar with MS Databricks;
  • Are driven to produce a new solution to the highest quality standards.

This assignment has a duration of 6-9 months, for minimum 3 days per week (3+ days on-site). The starting date is as of September 2025, with the possibility to start earlier.

Other requirements you need to meet:

  • You are enrolled at an educational institute for the entire duration of the internship;
  • Attach your cover letter with a clear motivation why you are interested in this internship assignment in particular;
  • You need to be located in the Netherlands to perform your internship. In case you’re currently living/studying outside of the Netherlands, your CV/motivation letter includes the willingness to relocate.
  • If you are a non-EU citizen, studying in the Netherlands, your university is willing to sign the documents relevant for doing an internship (i.e., Nuffic agreement).
