At Delft Circuits, we are enabling the quantum revolution. Our mission is to solve the hardware bottlenecks of the quantum industry by designing and producing high-quality, scalable I/O (input/output) solutions. Our flagship product, Cri/oFlex®, is the world’s first fully integrated cryogenic I/O solution tailored to quantum computing and quantum technology applications.

Founded in Delft, the Netherlands, we are a passionate and diverse team of engineers, physicists, and innovators working at the forefront of one of the most exciting fields in science and technology. We combine deep technical expertise with an open, collaborative culture—where ideas are shared, challenges are tackled head-on, and impact is real.

Whether you’re assembling delicate systems in our lab or helping customers scale their quantum computers, at Delft Circuits, your work truly matters.

The Role

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you’ll join the System Engineering team and play a key role in designing and drawing custom systems using 3D CAD software simulation tools. You’ll map customer setups, integrate our existing products into their designs, and deliver mechanical concept designs. After review and approval, you’ll finalize the design for production—partly manufactured in-house and partly outsourced. Since this is precision work, attention to detail is crucial.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design new mechanical components and assemblies for operation in vacuum, cryogenic environments, and high-frequency signal applications
  • Create and iterate 3D models, ensuring designs are both functional and aesthetically optimized
  • Prepare workshop drawings for both in-house and outsourced manufacturing
  • Produce assembly drawings and manuals for developed systems
  • Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to ensure alignment with engineering, production, and quality standards
  • Make system-level design decisions and realize them into our products

Job Requirements

  • MSc or BSc in mechanical engineering or similar field
  • Strong creative and mechanical design skills
  • Proficiency in 3D modelling and 2D drawing for various production methods (e.g., milling, sheet metal, laser cutting, additive manufacturing)
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on innovation and practicality
  • Eye for detail and good communication skills
  • System design experience (hardware, mechanical)

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in designing for manufacturability and prototyping
  • Experience in design for vacuum systems, cryogenics or RF systems is a plus
  • Facilitate design processes, e.g. collaboration, brainstorm sessions, documentation
  • Knowledge of ISO quality standards

Why Join Delft Circuits?

Be part of a pioneering and international team in the quantum technology sector and work in a collaborative and innovative environment where creativity is celebrated and where you will find:

  • 1-year contract with intention to extend
  • Full-time position (36 hours per week)
  • Competitive salary (€ 46.941,12 – € 69.206,40 per year, including 8% annual holiday allowance in May, based on the salary of June)
  • Salary increase per June 1st 2025
  • Cao Metalelektro
  • Pension scheme (PME)
  • Travel reimbursement (choose between € 0,23/ km or public transport subscription)
  • 30 vacation days per year

You’ll be working from our headquarters at the Kabeldistrict in Delft, featuring a 200 m² lab, a workshop, dedicated assembly and testing areas, and a modern office space.

Delft Circuits is an equal opportunity employer. We are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.

Delft Circuits develops and manufactures hardware for the quantum industry. Our first product is Cri/oFlex®, a new type of cabling. This product enables our customers to rapidly scale up their quantum devices. Our products can be found in quantum computers, quantum internet devices and in (quantum based) sensors.
We’re 20 people working in teams, ranging from R&D to Design and Production. Our atmosphere breathes enthusiasm and creativity - building our products and company together!
