We are currently looking for an Experimental Specialist to join the team in Delft.

As an Experimental Specialist, you’ll be at the heart of our projects, providing the critical experimental data that will help solve complex challenges. You’ll collaborate closely with scientists to ensure experiments are well-planned and address unexpected results. Your high-quality data will empower the team to develop effective solutions for our partners.

Main responsibilities

Our partner houses state-of-the-art facilities where we conduct experiments on gas flow, nanoparticle detection, plasma analysis, and more. One of our key goals is to support the development of EUV lithography for high-volume manufacturing and extend our expertise across other high-tech domains.

You will also be responsible for maintaining and enhancing lab setups. With your engineering skills, you’ll either build new experimental setups or improve existing ones. You may become the Setup Owner for specific equipment, taking responsibility for maintenance, safety, and overall quality.

This is a unique opportunity to advance your career in a dynamic environment at the forefront of technology and innovation.

  • Design, execute, and analyze experiments to support project teams.
  • Collaborate with scientists to ensure experimental plans are feasible and address unforeseen challenges.
  • Build, upgrade, and maintain lab setups with a focus on high-quality data collection.
  • Take ownership of specific setups, ensuring safety, maintenance, and quality standards are met.
  • Contribute to the development of new equipment and metrology solutions.
  • Work in a hands-on, experimental setting, with plenty of opportunities to further shape your career.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree (HBO) or equivalent in a technical field with experience in experimental research in an R&D or academic setting.
  • Knowledge in areas such as high vacuum, cleanliness/contamination, nanotechnology, optics, plasma, thermal and gas flow, or material characterization.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues.
  • Organized, precise, and quality-driven with the ability to work independently.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Fluent English is required; knowledge of Dutch is a plus.
  • A hands-on mindset, enjoying practical/technical work (this is not a desk job!).
  • Additional skills such as Python scripting or electrical engineering would be a bonus.

Our story

At S[&]T we contribute to a safer life on earth by translating space data into valuable and actionable insights. We oversee data from instruments to application, and apply our expertise within our software frameworks, information products and consultancy.

Our society relies on space and scientific instruments for climate change monitoring, navigation, defence and national security, and other crucial services we all use in our daily lives. These instruments produce an enormous quantity of complex data, and our goal is to unlock its value.

We have more than 20 years of experience working on instrument calibration, the creation of data quality monitoring tools, the development of real-time data processing frameworks, and the development of application-specific algorithms. With this, we help organisations, governments and industries to strengthen their information position and thereby improve their decision making. We focus on the following domains: Space & Science, Defence & Security, Environment & Sustainability, and High-Tech Consulting.
