About the role

The Global Director of Health and Safety is responsible for leading the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of health and safety strategies across the company's worldwide operations. This role is critical in promoting a culture of safety, ensuring compliance with international health and safety regulations, and minimizing risks associated with workplace hazards.

Your responsibilities

  • Ensure the protection and well-being of employees, contractors, and visitors globally and compliance with all local, national, and international H&S regulations and standards
  • Conduct regular assessments of health and safety practices, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate health and safety considerations into product design, manufacturing processes, and supply chain operations
  • Oversee the investigation of accidents and incidents to determine root causes and prevent recurrence
  • Develop and deliver health and safety training programs for employees, contractors, and stakeholders
  • Establish metrics and reporting systems to track health and safety performance, setting targets for continuous improvement
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to senior management on health and safety matters, including potential risks and mitigation strategies
  • Delivery of safety status reporting and Key Performance Indicators measured across multiple shifts (e.g., Accident reporting and investigations, safety work orders, and near misses)
  • Manage manufacturing process and procedure to ensure quality and good manufacturing practices, including 5S and other operational excellence initiatives

The experience we're looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree or professional certification (e.g., CSP, CIH) is preferred.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in health and safety management, with significant experience in a global or multi-site leadership role.
  • In-depth knowledge of international health and safety regulations, standards, and best practices.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful health and safety programs.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to influence and engage direct and indirect reports.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with proficiency in multiple languages being an asset.
  • Ability to travel internationally as required to support the company's global operations.
