Junior Special Airport Systems Specialist

With a passion for aviation and an interest in technology, you can grow to become an expert in Special Airport Systems at the international market leader in airport consultancy and engineering. As a Special Airport Systems Specialist, you will work on a diverse range of terminal and passenger-related systems that ensure efficient operations at airports worldwide.

What you do as a Junior Special Airport Systems Specialist

You’ll collaborate with experienced colleagues and external stakeholders to design, implement, and maintain key technologies. These include Common Use Passenger Processing Systems, where multiple airlines share check-in counters and boarding gates to optimize space and streamline operations, and Common Use Self-Service Systems, which enable travelers to check in, print boarding passes, and tag their baggage independently. You’ll contribute to the deployment of Automated Border Control Systems that use biometric verification to speed up immigration processes and enhance security, as well as Digital Display Systems that provide real-time flight information, gate assignments, and wayfinding capabilities. You will also support Public Address and Voice Evacuation systems, ensuring clear communication and emergency announcements for passengers and staff.

In addition to these Special Airport Systems, you will focus on Terminal Infrastructure Systems. This includes designing and maintaining Local Area Networks that serve as reliable communication backbones, creating Structured Cabling Systems that securely connect IT and security components across the terminal, and supporting Wireless Local Area Networks that offer seamless connectivity for passengers, staff, and operational systems. You’ll help manage Master Clock Systems to keep time displays and processes synchronized throughout the airport, and you’ll contribute to Grounding and Bonding protocols that protect communication systems, equipment, and people in the event of electrical faults.

By working on these systems, you’ll not only help airports run smoothly and improve the passenger experience, but also play a crucial role in the overall success of complex airport projects.

During your projects, you’ll connect with a variety of people—including clients, airport operators, local authorities, architects, and engineering teams—to pinpoint the best technological solutions for each airport’s needs. You’ll contribute to developing airport IT network strategies and future proof plans, coordinate integrated designs. You’ll share your findings through PowerPoint presentations, formal reports, calculations, technical drawings, and detailed equipment lists, communicating in person, through online platforms like Microsoft Teams, or via email as needed. Along the way, you’ll also offer technical advice, help develop specifications, and conduct system reviews or second opinions, ensuring every project meets the highest standards of quality, safety, and performance.
