What we’re looking for

We are seeking individuals who can conduct plan approval of machinery components, pressure equipment, and piping systems in accordance with relevant international standards. The ideal candidate should possess the necessary procedures, experience, and knowledge to effectively appraise and assess plans related to these aspects for new building marine equipment and components, as well as conversions and in-service vessels.

The role

  • Conduct comprehensive plan approval of machinery components, pressure equipment, and piping systems, adhering to Lloyd's Register Rules & Regulations, Statutory Regulations, and International Standards.
  • Stay updated with revisions to Statutory, Rule, and Flag requirements, ensuring their proper implementation.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with clients and internal stakeholders, fostering effective communication channels.
  • Engage in technical discussions and provide expert advice to both internal and external clients.
  • Present and discuss deliverables with both internal and external clients, offering suitable solutions when necessary.
  • Carry out activities in accordance with internal procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation, and industry standards.

What you bring

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Marine Engineering or a related field, along with a Chartered/Professional qualification and active membership in a relevant professional institution.
  • Extensive experience in offshore or marine machinery and engineering system design or appraisal, gained from various roles such as shipyards, classification societies, ship owners, designers, and manufacturers.
  • Essential experience and knowledge in marine engineering, with a particular emphasis on one or more of the following areas: Piping Systems, machinery components, pressure equipment, and plastic pipes, plastic materials, or rubber.
  • Familiarity with Quality Assurance systems and material properties is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team, adept at prioritizing tasks, meeting both Lloyd's Register and client deadlines, and performing effectively under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to engage in technical discussions with clients and maintain positive client relationships, with a client-focused mindset.
  • Proficiency in the English language commensurate with the requirements of the work, along with effective interpersonal skills.
