About the team

For our headquarters in Hengelo we are in search for an Export Sales Manager. The Sales Department is responsible for Order Intake and Customer Relations for the Thales Naval Nederland (Thales-NL) Domain with customers all over the world.

About your future job

As an Export Sales Manager you will be responsible for the long-term relation with our international corporate defense customers in the military domain. Your operational market is worldwide, but in majority in the Asia.

Your responsibilities are business development, sales and leading the capture team for bids in the area of mission critical components in navy domain. A single capture can last several years from early stage business development until contracting.

You will be part of the Sales team of Thales Netherlands focusing on the Military domain that is responsible to sell, produce and deliver Solutions. The core team of around 30 persons, are specialist in naval systems and ground-based radar solutions and is imbedded in Thales Netherland with 2500 employees

Your core activities will consist of:

  • Managing the customer relationship: what are the customer’s current and future needs, how can we improve the relation and how can we support the customer.
  • Develop potential matches between customer prospects and Thales-NL strengths in technologies, capabilities and network in both Dutch government and NL industry. The responsibilities of the Sales Manager thereby include business development, partnership development, setting the strategy, sales and portfolio development of a products and services;
  • Capturing contracts by proposing winning offers and successfully negotiate profitable contracts; thereby mainly offering in accordance with the Defence Acquisition Systems of foreign nations and respective OEM’s;

  • Has demonstrably commercial skills and technical knowledge to explain solutions to the customer;
  • Not afraid of complicated and long defense acquisition processes
  • Fascinated by high tech products and state of the art innovation and eager to learn
  • Is a team player and is able to localize and mobilize the expertise and workforce needed;
  • Has an affinity with electronic technology, preferably in the defense industry;
  • Is prepared to travel in Asia on regular base;
  • Bachelor or Master in preferable combination of Business Administration and Technology.
  • Understands the concept of business development and marketing.
  • Working experience minimum of 5 years
  • Fluent in English
