How you can
make a difference

Join Ahold Delhaize as a Specialist Healthy Communities and drive impactful change by shaping health and sustainability strategies that promote nutritious, affordable food. In this role, you'll collaborate globally, engage stakeholders, and develop initiatives that connect health, sustainability, and business growth—making a real difference for people and the planet.

We’re Ahold Delhaize, one of the world’s largest food retail groups and a leader in both supermarkets and e-commerce. Together with our 16 strong local retail brands in the United States, Europe and Indonesia, we make a meaningful difference in the lives of our brands’ customers, our people and the world around us. We offer a highly dynamic, international work environment in which our associates thrive.

Your New Work Environment

As Specialist Healthy Communities, you will play a role in advancing Ahold Delhaize’s health strategy by supporting our regions and local brands in promoting healthier and more sustainable consumer choices. Reporting to the VP Health & Sustainable Diets, you will develop and help implement impactful policies and strategic initiatives that strengthen the connection between health, hunger relief, sustainability and human rights.

In this role, you will collaborate with key stakeholders to drive meaningful change, ensuring that the health initiatives align with the broader company strategy and social and environmental goals. Additionally, you will help define and implement key metrics to measure success, such as healthy sales, maximizing the social, environmental, and economic impact of our efforts.

You will be given the freedom and responsibility to take ownership of your work and broaden your horizons by working together with knowledgeable colleagues from different countries who have an abundance of expertise in many areas. We will continuously support you and help you build on your talents and skills for the future.

Your role is highly diverse and encompasses various responsibilities. Here are the key ones:

  • Internal Engagement & Stakeholder Collaboration:

Lead and support internal engagement efforts across regions and local brands, fostering collaboration to drive progress and innovation in customer and community health. Develop and maintain a best practice exchange platform (e.g., a Healthy Playbook) to share insights, success stories, and proven strategies. By facilitating knowledge sharing across brands, you will help accelerate progress and amplify the impact of our health initiatives.

  • Healthy Communities Strategy Support:

Support the VP of Health & Sustainable Diets in development and implementation of Ahold Delhaize’s global health strategy, with a focus on advancing hunger relief initiatives.

  • Collaboration with External Partners:

Collaborate with external partners, including the Global Food Banking Network, to strengthen the implementation of the initiatives and engage internal stakeholders on this work.

  • Data & Analytics Support

Stay ahead of industry trends by gathering and analyzing external developments, while collaborating with data analytics teams across the organization to collect consumer and operational data. Leverage these insights to shape and refine Ahold Delhaize’s health strategy. Assess healthy sales data and assess the effectiveness of health interventions, continuously monitoring progress through engagement with the local brands. Your analysis will play a key role in evolving policies and strategies to drive meaningful impact.

  • Policy & Guideline Support:

Support the development and maintenance of health-related policies and ensure alignment of health policies with other Ahold Delhaize guidelines, providing a consistent approach to health and sustainability across the organization.

  • Communication & Leadership Engagement:

Lead the creation of communication concepts and messages around Ahold Delhaize’s Healthy Communities plan to boost internal leadership engagement and visibility.

What’s in it for you?

Aside from what we ask of you in this role, we also have a great deal to offer you: plenty of growth opportunities and various cross-brand career options; flexible working hours; a hybrid working model (we ask you to spend at least 50% of your working time at the office); and the chance to drive meaningful change on a global scale. You can look forward to a good work-life balance, and the chance to work in an inclusive environment that wholeheartedly encourages growth and welcomes you just the way you are.

Plus:

  • A gross annual salary between €55.000,- and €67.500,-, (including holiday allowance) based on experience.
  • Attractive bonuses
  • A first-rate pension plan
  • 45 vacation days per year (25,5 vacation days + 19,5 paid-leave days)
  • Travel expenses or an NS travel card
  • A laptop and smartphone

We think you’ll be best geared for success if you meet the following requirements:

  • Combine a Master’s degree with minimum 5 years relevant work experience, ideally within international business.
  • You bring strong strategic and project management skills, coupled with a passion for health and sustainability. Experience in the food industry and in health & sustainability ecosystem is a plus.
  • You thrive in leading initiatives independently, driving projects from concept to execution while ensuring alignment with strategic goals. Your ability to translate vision into action makes you a key driver of impactful change.
  • Are aware of global and local trends in industry and markets to help shift consumers towards healthier and more sustainable diets.
  • Have strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to navigate cross-functional collaboration and communication effectively. Fluent in English (written and verbal), you excel at engaging stakeholders across various levels and cultural backgrounds.
  • Are confident to question and challenge the status quo, listen to other perspectives and process feedback.
