FEBRI, the graduate school and research institute of the Faculty of Economics and Business has available one PhD position in the field of Organizational misconduct and social evaluations

Project description

When social actors engage in opportunistic, unethical, or illegal actions, they may receive punishment that goes beyond the rule of law. Such ‘undesired’ forms of behavior often invoke negative social evaluations, which are socially constructed, collective perceptions of firms or individuals. However, not all actors may suffer equally when dealing with negative social evaluations, because not all incidents are reported equally and, even when information about a certain incident is well-known, the consequences may differ across organizations. Conducting research on this topic allows us to uncover antecedents of biased evaluations and why actors engage in misconduct in the first place.

Organisation

The PhD position is embedded in the research programme Innovation & Organization of FEB’s Research Institute. The project will be supervised by dr. Cleo Silvestri, dr. Jitse Duijsters, and prof. dr. Pedro de Faria, from the department of Innovation Management & Strategy.

The ideal candidate is ambitious, highly motivated and wishes to make a career in research. He or she has a thorough training in research skills, speaks and writes English fluently and has obtained excellent results in the master phase.

The PhD candidate should have a background (MSc, research master) in Management, Organizational Studies, or related fields. Skills relating to quantitative research and econometrics are preferred.
