How do you make our customers happy?

Over the last 25 years, bol has evolved from a humble online bookstore into a multi-faceted technology platform. But with great growth comes great complexity. Some aspects of our technical landscape have become labyrinths that now impede innovation and scalability. That’s where you come in. As Manager Domain Development, you’ll guarantee communications processes across all flight levels of our Product and Tech department. Your mission? To rethink how we work, untangle the tech knots, and deliver more value to our 13 million customers, 49,000 partners, and all bol colleagues.

The biggest challenge

You’ll need to navigate a complex, ever-changing environment while wearing multiple hats. Can you juggle product portfolio management, community building, change leadership, and strategic support – all while keeping our tech transformation on track? It’s like solving a Rubik’s cube while riding a unicycle through a hurricane – tough, but a heck of a rewarding challenge.

What you'll do as Manager Domain Development

In this highly influential role, you’ll be the link between our product vision and its execution. Reporting to the Head of Portfolio Management, you’ll have a dotted line to a specific domain, where you’ll be part of the Product Domain Leadership team. Your days will be as diverse as our product catalog. You’ll lead and drive your domain’s performance, collaborating closely with the Product Director and the Head of Product Analytics. Together, you’ll implement data-driven performance management methodologies, ensuring our processes flow smoothly and efficiently.

As the liaison between your domain and other craft departments, you’ll manage the QBR/OKR goal-setting process, and your clear communication will ensure everyone knows their role and how to excel at it. You are also our change whisperer, identifying and addressing pressing problems and implementing new ways of working while, with the Head of Products, always keeping us on track and focused on the bigger picture. In addition, you’ll take on chief of staff tasks, consolidating strategic input. You’ll be the right hand of the Product Director, proactively leading initiatives that drive the domain forward. Responsibilities include:

  • Implementing data-driven decision-making processes
  • Facilitating cross-functional collaboration and goal alignment
  • Leading change initiatives within your domain
  • Providing strategic support to your Product Director
  • Balancing short-term needs with long-term vision
  • Adapting to evolving organizational priorities

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in business administration, marketing, or a related field
  • 5-10 years of experience in product management, product-led companies, or related roles, preferably within our industry (ecommerce)
  • Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools, with a track record of juggling multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to craft long-term product strategies that align with business goals
  • Excellent English skills, both verbal and written communication, and a knack for facilitating effective cross-team collaboration
  • Strong understanding of customer needs and a commitment to delivering value through bol's products
  • Able to evaluate domain performance based on metrics.
  • Experience in leading cross-functional teams and influencing stakeholders without direct authority
  • Adaptability to changing market conditions and organizational priorities - because at bol, change is the only constant!

Why you can make a difference

Your strategic mindset and ability to navigate complex landscapes will be the compass that guides us through our tech transformation. By optimizing our product portfolio and fostering a culture of data-driven decision-making, you’ll positively impact the speed and effectiveness of our innovation. Your leadership will be the catalyst that turns strategy from a vision into reality.

  • Details be damned! The thought of turning big ideas into structured plans gives you hives.
  • One way street You can field any question, but you rarely ask anything. Proactivity isn’t your thing.
  • No driving skills The last time you drove a change in the process, you flipped the company into a ravine.
  • Strategic wizard While others are plotting their next move, you're three steps ahead, spotting synergies across the domain like a chess grandmaster in a blitz tournament.
  • Problem solver You spot a problem, have many ideas how to solve, prioritize, act with autonomy and share results.
  • Collaboration champion Your ability to get people dancing to the same beat would make even Armin van Buuren jealous.

This is where you'll work
