International Tax Manager M&A

A position has opened up at the head office of Ingka (biggest IKEA Retailer worldwide) for an International Tax Manager role within Ingka’s Group Tax Advisory team. This position will have a strong focus on steering, guiding and supporting M&A transactions for Ingka Investments in the field of (international) tax. The internal title for this role will be Direct Tax Advisor.

Ingka Investments is the investments arm of the Ingka Group and is responsible for safeguarding the financial resilience of the Ingka Group and strengthening Ingka’s commercial proposition through strategic investments. These investments will be in many different industries (e.g. renewable energy, software/digital companies, venture capital, real estate, circularity and recycling and financial services) and jurisdictions.

The role will be performed out of Leiden. Group Tax is part of the Group Finance team.

You have a university degree in Tax Law, Tax Economics or an equivalent degree and at least 8+ years of experience in International Tax from a Big 4/international advisory firm and/or multinational company, with very good knowledge of multiple tax jurisdictions in- and outside Europe.

You are experienced in the area of M&A and have in-depth knowledge of the different phases of a deal; from the kick-off of an M&A deal to finalization of post-deal actions. You have good knowledge of legal principles and proven strong analytical and numerical skills but also general business/financial skills.

As a person you are flexible, able to multi-task, a fast learner and pro-active, comfortable handling unclear or unpredictable situations; you can work under pressure, meet required deadlines and know how to prioritize your work. In other words, you are a passionate and hands on professional with a strong sense of urgency and a solution focused approach. You strive to meet quality standards and produce quality work products. You communicate confidently in English and can easily connect with colleagues from many different cultures in an international environment.

You are an open-minded team player, with good communication skills that help you to navigate through the different levels of the organization and build strong relationships. Your responsibilities

Your main assignment will be to:

  • Provide tax advice on M&A transactions, including leading the Tax workstreams, for a wide range of transactions
  • Optimize and increase efficiency of the M&A processes
  • Manage the due-diligence activities and to some extent execute Tax due diligence as well as provide relevant tax advice based on the DD findings.
  • Take responsibility for the tax structuring for investments/divestments
  • Maintain continuous contact with finance and accounting managers and other relevant internal and external stakeholders to identify and quantify potential tax exposures
  • Share knowledge and best practices with relevant stakeholders
  • Identify the impact of international and local tax developments on the Ingka Group, communicate the relevant developments to the stakeholders and determine which actions need to be undertaken
  • Provide education to the organization in the area of M&A tax, e.g. via organizing direct tax seminars
  • Contribute to and secure adherence to the Ingka Group Tax principles and tax rules.
