Heerema Marine Contractors

Can you analyze external data and translate this into business opportunities? Join our team in Leiden as Business Analyst.

A unique maritime adventure

At Heerema Marine Contractors, we do something new every day. We operate the world’s largest crane vessels and with them we transport, install and remove offshore structures for the offshore energy markets. Our projects range from installing wind turbines, removing retired offshore oil and gas platforms, and installing platforms up to 50,000 metric tons. By joining us, you will play an important part in our unique maritime adventure.

Your role in the story

As a Business Analyst, you play a key role in analyzing global trends across geopolitics, energy, industry, competition, and clients. You gather and interpret market and business intelligence, identify trends and developments, and translate these into strategic opportunities, risks, and actionable scenarios.

Who will you work with?

You will join a newly formed team dedicated to supporting the Commercial Department in making informed strategic choices. You will work closely with tender teams and the Strategy Department, ensuring data-driven decision-making.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring competitors, (potential) clients, and industry trends by region and market segment through media, internet research, macroeconomic data, and reports.
  • Translating an unsecured future portfolio (excluding projects, tenders, and identified prospects) into a financial forecast, including cash flow and resource planning (human and equipment).
  • Identifying business opportunities or risks for Heerema, including volume/revenue estimates, key figures, and technical capabilities.
  • Conducting industry analyses, including niche markets, client/product trends, and supply chain insights.
  • Delivering trend reports, country analyses, and business intelligence.
  • Developing interactive visual reports and dashboards.

Is this the job for you?

  • You have a Bachelor’s or Polytechnic degree in Commercial, Economics, Business Administration, or a Technical field.
  • You have experience with data analysis and reporting.
  • You have an entrepreneurial mindset, take ownership, and are result-oriented.
  • You have excellent skills in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • You are fluent in Dutch and English, both written and spoken.
  • You have experience with Microsoft’s Power BI Platform and ideally know DAX/M, enabling you to query and manipulate datasets.
  • You are flexible and willing to travel abroad when required.

Here is what it takes to be a real Heerema colleague

  • Learning mindset, which means being open to feedback, curious, and eager to learn;
  • Personal leadership which means you are an entrepreneur at heart, have the mindset of a founder and take control of your own work and development.
