Purpose of the job

Shape the Future of Risk & Finance at AkzoNobel

At AkzoNobel, we don’t just manage risk—we turn it into opportunity. As our Captive & Financial Manager Insurance, you’ll be at the heart of a global insurance operation, ensuring our insurance strategies are not just protective but proactive. You’ll be the financial pillar of our insurance programs and structure, balancing risks against costs within our internal insurance company.

What You’ll Do

Imagine having o.a. €14 billion insured property portfolio under your watch. You’ll design and implement risk financing strategies, manage the finance of our in-house captive insurance companies (broker and insurer) and oversee global insurance premium flows. You’ll be the bridge between our internal finance teams and external insurers, ensuring seamless operations while keeping an eye on compliance, reporting, and business continuity. Furthermore, you will arrange for all the annual statutory and regulatory reporting (Solvency II) and be the key contact for internal and external audit.

What you bring

  • Financial expert with a Master’s degree in finance, controlling, or a related field
  • Experienced with 5-8 years in financial analysis, insurance, or risk management
  • Analytical thinker who can simplify complex financial data for decision-making
  • Fluent communicator in Dutch & English, comfortable in an international setting
  • Strong leader & negotiator with a talent for collaboration and problem-solving
  • Strategic mindset with a hands-on approach for delivering continuous improvement
