Monumental is automating on-site construction with cutting-edge robotics and software. Our mission is to redefine construction through software and robots. We aim for a future where beautiful, bespoke buildings are built within a single day with minimal labour.

We’re a growing team (about 40 team members) of mostly engineers and technicians, coming from companies like Palantir, Qualcomm, Dyson, Shopify, Tesla, and Meta, that are looking to expand the operational part of our business. We're still in the first days of building the company, and this is a unique opportunity to be an early employee in a high-growth, high-ambition startup environment. From Day 1, you’ll be able to work with an experienced founding team backed by top-tier investors.

About You and This Role

We’re looking for an Executive Assistant & Operations Manager who thrives on variety, complex problem-solving, and the challenge of keeping a fast-paced, hard-tech start-up running smoothly. You’ll be the trusted organiser for our CEO and leadership team, as well as the driving force behind operational improvements that make our workplace more efficient, enjoyable, and productive.

Monumental is a unique company in that we’re solving the problem of on-site construction with a vertically integrated offering. We’re a hard tech company doing real R&D, financed through venture funding. We manufacture our hardware in-house, manage a complex supply chain, and deploy masonry robots to construction sites across the Netherlands.

Our physical workspace reflects the complexity of what we do. We have a 3D printing farm, a fully equipped metal workshop, and indoor + outdoor testing spaces for robotic bricklaying. We’ve lost count of how many deliveries we get in a day, and manage several subleased villas within our facility to other startups.

You’ll be responsible for everything from optimising our CEO’s schedule to coordinating special projects to improve the experience of our team and guests. Like other startups, you’ll help orchestrate press or investor visits. Unlike other startups, you’ll also be asking visitors for their shoe sizes to make sure we have appropriate footwear ready for them to visit our sites.

Whether it’s improving how we manage our unique facilities or finding smarter ways to support our CEO with operations as we scale, you’ll be at the heart of keeping Monumental running smoothly, helping us stay one step ahead. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same and is excited to roll up their sleeves to tackle unexpected challenges.

What You Might Be Working On

  • Day-to-day support of our CEO, including managing their calendar, emails, travel, and communications to ensure their time is spent on the highest-impact activities.
  • Assist in preparing agendas, meeting notes, action items, and follow-through, and various internal and external communication.
  • Coordinate and project manage one-off special projects, e.g., a website update, helping organise company offsites, or a deep dive into a legal question, with various stakeholders.
  • Improving office management tasks, like tracking invoices, supporting VAT returns, and managing residence permit applications, while constantly looking for ways to improve processes.
  • Constantly looking for ways to improve our workplace experiences and processes.

What we’re looking for

  • An energetic individual who excels at execution and getting things done, you thrive on taking ownership and delivering results.
  • You have a knack for keeping things (and people) on track, with high attention to detail.
  • You have the innate ability to “figure things out”: you are resourceful, persistent, and able to constantly unblock yourself, even when you encounter novel problems and situations.
  • You are tech-savvy. We don’t expect you to be an engineer, but you are comfortable adopting new tools quickly, and you’re aware of all the best practices in supporting a high-tech company. You already know what “two-factor authentication” is, and no one needs to tell you to enable it.
  • You know how and when to over-communicate and naturally close loops. People rarely have to check in on you.
  • High empathy to imagine what might make a day in the life of a team member more smooth and efficient.
  • Comfortable with multitasking and switching contexts throughout the day.
  • Fluent in verbal and written English & Dutch.
