Six Sigma Black Belt - Senior Architect

Job Description

As Six Sigma expert having a strong DFSS background you will be part of the Design Quality Engineering team, a group of highly talented and experienced engineers, scientists and architects supporting Philips Business Units in developing safe, robust and compliant medical products.

The DQE team has about 20 experts and it is part of the Quality and Reliability department within the Innovation and Strategy organization.

As DfSS architect, you are a Black Belt with a proven record of projects where you used 6Sigma methodology to develop high standard products. You can coach and mentor green belts and black belts and you participate actively in managing the DfSS program across Philips, including training and training materials.

You are responsible for

  • Delivering Six Sigma Black Belt and Green Belt Training, both DFSS and DMAIC;
  • Coaching Black Belt/Green Belt candidates to certification and the successful completion of their projects;
  • Work with Six Sigma team to update and maintain training materials;
  • Actively participate in the Global Philips Six Sigma community & promote Six Sigma in R&D and other relevant communities;
  • Working on projects to keep hands on quality engineering experience and stay updated with latest innovation development (approximately 25% of the time).

Six Sigma DfSS is a critical innovation capability for Innovation professionals to successfully carry out Innovation initiatives at various stages of Innovations e.g. Research & Development. Therefore, driving DfSS as capability development within Innovation domain is part of the foundation for Innovation success. Besides creating “Robust Designs” via DFSS we use DMAIC for Problem Solving. You will witness the impact & contribution of your own work when quality and meaningful innovations or Design improvements, using DfSS and DMAIC at its foundation.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • Passionate about applying DfSS in Innovation domain - Design for Quality;
  • R&D background and mindset with knowledge of product and software development.
  • Working experience with Medical regulated environment is preferred;
  • A certified Six Sigma Black Belt and willing to further develop towards Master Black Belt certification;
  • A talented (natural) trainer, able to explain complex concept in the easy-to-understand terms, able to catch people's attention;
  • Coaching skill, able to coach Black Belt/Green Belt candidates to certification and successful completion of their projects;
  • Strong team player;
  • Willing to travel up to 20 percent: deliver trainings, onsite support.
