The role

The ideal Azure Data Platform Engineer for Valtech is passionate about the experience revolution. This innovative individual has experience, looks to continually learn, and enjoys sharing expertise. Strong verbal and written communication are a must. Experience working in an Agile Scrum development environment, or in a consulting capacity is a plus.

Role responsibilities

• Manages an Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) platform in Azure using services including Synapse, Azure Data Factory, and Databricks
• Enables and configures connections between data sources to ingest into the EDW
• Manages the analytics platform in Azure using services including Power BI and Azure Logic Apps
• Supports security for the data platform including SSO and access controls
• Leads the design and deployment of future Azure services or enhancements on the existing Azure services
• Establishes Azure governance frameworks, including cost management, compliance, security policies, and monitoring standards
• Continuously evaluates and improves the performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency of Azure platforms
• Designs Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform and Azure DevOps (ADO)
• Collaborates with Data Engineers and Data Architects to implement and execute stored procedures

Minimum qualifications

• 5+ years of experience with 3+ years using Azure services
• Strong understanding and prior experience with data products in Azure including Synapse, Power BI, and Databricks
• Prior experience writing Synapse or Azure Data Factory pipelines
• Exceptional problem-solving and analytics skills
• Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities
• Familiarity with Agile and DevOps methodologies

Preferred qualifications

• 7+ years of experience with 5+ years using Azure services
• Microsoft Azure certifications such as AZ-305 (Azure Solutions Architect Expert), AZ-104 (Azure Administrator), or equivalent
• Prior experience writing Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using Terraform
• Prior experience in consulting services
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or Bash
• Prior experience with Azure Fabric
