For our Animal Health location in Boxmeer, the Netherlands, we are looking for an Automation Engineer to join our Global Animal Health Manufacturing IT team. Do you want to be part of shaping the digital future of our Animal Health department?

Automation Engineer

Purpose of the role

Global Animal Health Manufacturing IT Boxmeer delivers IT and automation solutions to the manufacturing sites Boxmeer and De Bilt. This encompasses a wide range of manufacturing technology, including PLCs, SCADAs, historians, MES systems and supporting IT applications, all aligned to a goal of ensuring frictionless flow of data and more efficient business operations.

You will have the opportunity to drive the consistent delivery of automation solutions across the Integrated Process Teams and Centers of Excellence at the sites Boxmeer and De Bilt. You will be the Subject Matter Expert (SME) on automation in our project teams. You will be able to make impact by participating in troubleshooting and root-cause analysis to ensure that our production systems operate with minimal downtime. You will report to the Site Digital Technology Lead.

Primary activities

  • Architect and develop automation solutions and manage the technical deployment in collaboration with external suppliers based on internal and external standards.
  • Ensure a common way of working and standardization of solutions across all production areas.
  • Leads investigations of automation incidents and problems to prevent recurrence including the development and implementation of corrective actions (root cause analysis).
  • Evaluate automated systems and develop strategies to optimize and ensure the quality and stability of automation systems through future expansion, replacement or upgrade.
  • On-floor support of manufacturing activities.

Your profile

  • Bachelor’s degree with relevant experience in Computer Science, Computer Science Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in a highly regulated manufacturing environment, such as pharma, biotechnology, food or chemicals.
  • At least 2 years’ experience of SCADA systems engineering & deployment e.g. Siemens, Wonderware and distributed control systems e.g. PCS7.
  • Experience with automation system architecture, design, start-up, and/or qualification.
  • Experienced problem solver/troubleshooter, skilled in root cause analysis.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written in English and preferable in Dutch.
  • Currently living near the site in Boxmeer, Netherlands. Relocation support is not offered.
