Introduction

Mechanical System Layout (MSL) manages the mechanical system layout to enable the functionally optimal engineering of exposure tools and to meet build, transport, and install requirements for our ASML products.

3D CAD and VR tools, as well as, 3D scaled physical models (Mockups) support visualizing the layout concepts. Lightweight files that contain only the important information of a volume file, known as JT files, are used for 3D visualization. The challenge we face is that the automatic generation of JT files is not 100% stable yet.

Your Assignment

The goal of your internship assignment is to identify and resolve issues in the automatic generation of JT files from NX volume files.
Volume files: Volume needed on the worst-case scenario of a design (design+tolerances).JT file: Lightweight file that contains only the important information of a volume file.During your internship you will focus on the following:

  • Define stakeholders and scope - Establish clear expectations and create your plan of approach;

  • 3D CAD - Work with NX and start examining workflows, logs and system settings; Identify possible root cause of the issues;

  • Solution Development - Propose solutions, test solutions, monitor results and adjust solutions if necessary;

  • Report and Documentation: Create a detailed report of your findings, solutions and any changes made. Create a guide to help identify and resolve similar issues in the future;

  • Present the results within the organization

  • Additional - opportunity to join / support various System Layout related design, test, verification (as it comes);

This is a bachelor/master apprentice internship (to gain work experience) or a bachelor graduation project (thesis) for minimum 5 months. The start date of this internship is in February.

To be a fit for an internship at ASML, you:

  • Have educational background in mechanical engineering;

  • Have experience and affection with 3D CAD tools (preferable Siemens NX);

  • Have basic knowledge of software engineering and familiarity with file generation (is a plus);

  • Having knowledge of Siemens Teamcenter (is a plus);

  • Have good organizational skills, and work well as part of a team and independent.

Other requirements you need to meet

  • You are enrolled at an educational institute for the entire duration of the internship;
