How do you make our customers happy?

By making the environmental impact of all (!) bol products visible throughout their entire lifecycle, enabling effective course corrections. Together with internal teams and external partners, you’ll translate analytical insights into workable reduction initiatives and guide their implementation. As such, this role is key to creating an increasingly sustainable bol ecosystem, including our extensive partner network.

What you'll do as Environmental Data Expert?

In this highly impactful role, you’ll be our environmental data expert and trusted advisor to stakeholders at all organizational levels. The scope is broad: we look beyond our direct CO2 footprint to include all products we and our partners sell. You’ll provide accurate, direction-setting data insights and ensure they’re put into action. You’ll also work intensively with other teams to develop insights around (for instance) water usage, land use, and biodiversity.

What makes this position extra appealing and challenging, is that you won’t just be diving into complex datasets. You’ll also spearhead company-wide projects from research through implementation. You’re our expert in Scope 3 insights and bring together information that is crucial to reach desired reduction levels, to chart impact trend lines, and to enable effective reduction monitoring. You’ll engage colleagues, drive project teams, and ensure other organizational units take ownership of these projects.

As a member of the Environmental Impact team, you’ll advise sustainability program managers and feed them relevant CO2 data and insights with which you support the business and facilitate cross-domain impact. The lines to the rest of bol are short, and you’ll make them even shorter, so we can steer toward sustainability ambitions as a tight-knit collective. Specifically, this means:

  • Developing and refining the CO2 reduction strategy based on data analysis and market insights
  • Creating environmental impact reports in close collaboration with controlling and ESG reporting
  • Coordinating collaboration with external experts, including Ahold-Delhaize's Scope 3 specialists
  • Translating data insights into concrete action plans that reduce our footprint
  • Identifying 'data gaps' to strengthen our datasets and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Developing new datasets and reporting structures together with operational data analysts
  • Ensuring the quality and reliability of our environmental data
  • Translating complex sustainability data into understandable insights and KPIs

Proven sustainability expert You have a solid background (5+ years experience) in consultancy or data analysis, with demonstrable knowledge of Scope 3 and footprint calculations.

  • Strategic connector You know how to bring teams and stakeholders together and inspire them with your clear vision on CO2 reduction.
  • Analytical GPS Your analyses guide strategies and projects, and you leverage data to support actions. Hands-on experience with BigQuery and/or Tableau? More than welcome!

This is where you'll work

As an Environmental Data Expert, you’ll be an indispensable member of Team Environmental Impact, reporting directly to the Manager Environmental Impact. You’ll work in a pioneering environment where collaboration, continuous improvement, and sustainable impact drive everything we do. Together with your colleagues, you’ll make sustainability ambitions achievable – step by step.
