Nmbrs is looking for a motivated and skilled Product Owner to join our dynamic team in Amsterdam and lead the development of our Payroll and HR software solutions. As a Product Owner, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our product, ensuring it meets the evolving needs of our customers and stays ahead in the competitive market.

Who is Nmbrs?

We are an agile working, scale-up SaaS company at the cutting edge of HR & Payroll technology. With our user-friendly software, we want to take HR & Payroll to the next level and ensure that our customers can deliver their employees the best possible HR & Payroll service.

To make this happen we invest a lot in our culture which is shaped every day by our collaborative, innovative, and engaged colleagues. We strive to give our employees the best experience possible which is why we work without managers in a hybrid environment and have adopted a 4-day workweek. Our 130+ employees are spread out in Amsterdam, Lisbon, and Stockholm.

What you can expect in this role:

You will be part of one of our Product squads. Every squad is a self-steering team which takes full ownership of their part of the product. You will work closely with cross-functional teams — engineering, design, sales, and customer success — to translate business requirements into well-defined product features that enhance user experience and solve critical payroll and HR challenges for our clients.

Some ongoing projects at Nmbrs:

  • Work towards a zero-touch payroll machine
  • Automate complex payroll processes
  • Building a location and time registration system
  • The Future Pensions Act (Wet Toekomst Pensioenen)

Job main Tasks:

  • Manage your squad backlog: you’ll need to prioritise together with the team what needs to be done;
  • Collect and analyse customer feedback, ensuring product improvements and innovations align with user needs and pain points;
  • Be able to balance the new features and the maintenance needed to the platform, and to balance the technical and business needs;
  • Maintain a well-defined product roadmap, ensuring prioritisation of features based on business value, customer feedback, and market trends;
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure alignment with product goals, creating a balance between customer needs, business objectives, and technical feasibility;
  • Be part of the day-to-day of your Squad and our Product Owner Chapter;
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends in payroll and HR technology, including legal and regulatory changes.

You will be successful in this role if:

  • Experience as a Product Owner, preferably in the payroll, HR, financial technology, or SaaS industries;
  • You are fluent in English and Dutch;
  • Proven experience working within Agile/Scrum development environments and managing product backlogs, roadmaps, and sprint planning;
  • Knowledge of payroll systems, HR processes, compliance regulations, and labour laws (will be a plus);
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex product requirements to both technical and non-technical stakeholders;
  • Exceptional organisational and time-management skills, with a proven track record of delivering product features on time and within scope;
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to leverage data and user feedback to inform product decisions;
  • Experience with Jira, Confluence, or other product management and project tracking tools;
  • Customer-centric mindset with a passion for solving user problems;
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment;
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.

What’s in it for you?

  • We offer a gross annual salary of 51.8K to 58.3K including holiday allowance;
  • Nmbrs is a flat organisation in which you have the freedom and responsibility to do what you are good at and have an impact, in an agile working environment;
  • A personal coach who helps you with your personal and professional growth as well as a yearly budget for training and personal development;
  • We ensure a healthy work-life balance;
  • For us full-time means a 4-day workweek giving you one paid personal day to spend in a way that will benefit you the most;
  • We have a big and light office space close to the Sloterdijk train station, and all the floors of the office are accessible by elevator;
  • We work hybrid at Nmbrs;
  • We end the summer by bringing all offices together for an amazing event at a very secret location to spark togetherness and innovation and celebrate with each other;
  • Additionally we organise fun events of different themes every month, think: game nights, movie nights, ping pong tournaments, or pizza party (this events are voluntary);
  • Nmbrs offers the opportunity to go on an exchange to our offices in Lisbon or Stockholm for up to 4 months.

As part of our hiring process, we conduct a criminal background check for all candidates reaching the final stages. This helps us ensure a safe and secure environment for everyone.

In order to achieve this, we are committed to shaping a hiring process that provides everyone with an equal opportunity to get hired.

The success of a business depends on the well-being of the people that choose to work for it.

Our vision for employee well-being transcends beyond our software. From the day we launched our company, we’ve practiced what we preach by setting the same high standards for our workplace as we’ve done for our products. With self-directing teams in three European cities, we’re inclusively collaborating across cultures. We believe this makes Nmbrs a great company to work for – and work with.
