BAE Systems Agile Coach

BAE Systems Digital Intelligence is home to 4,500 digital, cyber and intelligence experts. We work collaboratively across 10 countries to collect, connect and understand complex data, so that governments, nation states, armed forces and commercial businesses can unlock digital advantage in the most demanding environments.

About the Role
We are looking for a passionate Agile Coach to join our team following continuous growth and success in the UK National Security sector. Behind great solutions are great teams, and our Agile Coaches are there to help support, guide, and coach them to success. In BAE Systems, we don’t believe in constraining ambition, and therefore view Scrum Masters as Agile Coaches.

This particular role can range from junior to mid-level so we are happy to talk to candidates who are either starting out in their agile coaching career or who have some experience already, looking for the next career move.

What you could be doing for us:

  • Help individuals, teams, and the wider organisation to understand what it means to implement, adopt, and embrace an Agile mindset using a deep knowledge and understanding of various Agile tools, techniques, and frameworks.
  • Guide, coach and mentor teams and organisations to embrace Agile ways of working to help them thrive in a complex world.
  • Ensure that teams and organisations understand and adhere to Agile theory and practices, facilitating stakeholder collaboration, and removing barriers between stakeholders and the team and/or organisation.
  • Be accountable for the team’s effectiveness at a team-level, promoting self-organisation, and facilitating the team’s events and ceremonies.
  • Support healthy team dynamics by creating psychologically safe environments where transparency and trust are catalysts for change and continuous improvement.
  • Use emotional intelligence and soft skills to uncover and explore issues impacting the delivery of business value.
  • Comfortably navigate complexity and operate in various Agile capacities, including Scrum Master, Kanban facilitator/coach, as well as roles specific to Scaled Agile frameworks.
  • Be more than a 2-day certificate Scrum Master – be a change agent, community builder, and leader in your own right. Be passionate to grow your craft, attend conferences and local meet-ups, and participate in the business’s wider Agile and Scrum communities.

About you:

  • Experience in offering hands-on advice and coaching to at least one team which you are not directly responsible for;
  • Led and coached a department or small business-unit in Agile adoption and implementation;
  • Facilitated the wider Agile/Scrum community within your organisation;
  • Confidence in interacting with senior stakeholders and mentoring different Scrum/Agile techniques;
  • Potential understanding or experience in Agile scaling frameworks such as Scrum@Scale, LeSS, SAFe and Nexus;

Why BAE Systems?

You’ll be part of an inclusive culture that values diversity, rewards integrity and merit, and where you’ll be empowered to fulfil your potential. Please be aware that many roles at BAE Systems are subject to both security and export control restrictions, which may affect your eligibility for certain positions.
