Van Oord is an ambitious entrepreneurial organization. "We create", "We care", "We work together" and "We succeed" are our company values. As one of our Enterprise architects, you will play an important role in our purpose: “To create a better world for future generations by delivering Marine Ingenuity”.

Our information technology department supports our global organisation in successfully executing our projects by delivering shared & enabling platform capabilities, landscape planning, and ensuring continuity & cybersecurity of our services. We apply a pragmatic approach, keeping close relationships with business stakeholders to make sure we deliver what our customers need in a language that is familiar and understood.

Our business landscape is undergoing significant transformation in key areas of finance, supply chain, procurement, HR, fleet- and asset management. Major goals to achieve are increased operational excellence, becoming fully data-driven, and growing our digital capabilities around our processes and company ecosystem.

We are transforming our IT landscape to become mostly platform- and cloud-based, in support of data and/or digital initiatives – with new platforms being realized for data, integration, and low-code. We are transforming our way of working to become more Agile and adopt a product-centric mindset. We are proud of our knowledgeable and experienced IT staff, applying a no-nonsense approach when needed. There is never a boring moment - with lots of challenges & innovations, in a world where ‘constant change’ is the only constant.

YOUR IMPACT

As one of our Enterprise Architects, you are the custodian of our integral view on the enterprise process, systems, and data landscape. You support our business teams with insights, advice and direction on landscape planning, defining scope, and managing dependencies – advocating separation of concerns, mediating, moderating and avoiding unnecessary complexity. You stay connected to the real world; you know your academics but keep these available in the background.

You will have a strong role in further professionalizing our standards and planning processes – working together with business and information analysts, domain architects, project/program managers and various other business stakeholders in moving our landscape forward in a transparent and predictable way.

In preparation of ongoing and upcoming Business/IT initiatives, you will be working together in and across several business and platform domains: Corporate Functions, business units (Offshore Energy, Dredging & Infra), Survey, Engineering & Estimating, Ship Management, and the enabling IT organisation.

You have a background in architecture and/or senior business analysis, have experience in working with project-driven organisations, have a decent understanding of how finance processes operate and possess working knowledge of our business domain. You recognize and adapt to the needs of your environment.

Your responsibilities:

  • Maintaining overview of our cross-company business systems and data landscape, and aligning this with our recently redefined E2E business process landscape
  • Being the EA point of contact for Finance, Supply Chain, Procurement & Project domains
  • Working with BU and domain business analysts to bring together our company business architecture – promoting reuse, modularity, orchestration, and separation of concerns; this to ensure a future-proof and scalable architecture.
  • Guiding business change programs forward
  • Offering advice & explanation on our goals and the bigger context
  • Aligning different perspectives, moderating and mediating into a way forward
  • Analysing and managing change dependencies
  • to manage scope and facilitate decoupling from other activities, managing complexity
  • to understand and communicate change impact
  • to align with adjacent programs and activities, managing overlap and enabling reuse
  • Bringing forward ideas & opportunities in innovation, complexity reduction and/or cost savings
  • Providing advice on talent management to improve our organisation’s business operations
  • Guiding, maintaining & developing standards, guidelines, patterns, and frameworks
  • Aligning with domain business analysts, systems analysts, and peer architects
  • Guarding quality of high-level design

YOUR WORKPLACE

You will be working from our head office in Rotterdam – with a splendid view on the beautiful Maas. You can start or end your working day at our own gym in the office. Of course, there is room to work from home, while maintaining a healthy mix in working together as a team and with our stakeholders.

This position is available within the multi-disciplinary Enterprise Architecture team: Operating in a highly international enterprise environment, with members and stakeholders across the globe.

The Architecture team consists of 8 people, who are spread across EA and domain architecture. You will get a buddy to help you find your way into the company. You can learn a lot from your colleagues, and we value an open learning environment.
