As the Product Owner of the FBS teams (Financieel Basis Systeem) you have a broad responsibility regarding facilitating and supporting the Mainbank monthly Accounting processes, as well as the sourcing of Mainbank data towards other Finance and Risk purposes (e.g. regulatory reporting, ALM and Controlling functions). In addition, you have a pivotal role in the transition towards the target Finance & Risk data and IT architecture for the Mainbank data in the context of the Compass program.

Your job

The FBS teams are part of the Finance Grid which supports the Finance functions of Accounting, ALM and Controlling with accurate insights and solutions regarding the management of business performance, financial risk management, financial disclosure, and reporting purposes. Additionally, the Finance Grid plays a key role in the migration towards the target Finance & Risk data and IT architecture.

The FBS teams are responsible for the processing of Mainbank data, primarily for Accounting purposes but also for other Finance and Risk purposes. The FBS processed data is sourced towards several parties, such as Axiom Accounting for monthly financial closing processes, Reporting for granular reporting obligations, Basel change, and to ALM and Controlling. As part of broader initiatives to improve data quality and resolve regulatory data-related issues, the FBS teams are also involved in various change projects to improve the Mainbank data processed via FBS.

  • As part of the Compass program to realize the future state Finance & Risk Data and IT architecture, the FBS teams play an instrumental role in migrating FBS data and functionalities towards the future state technology and design of the Finance and Risk processes.
  • Realizing this requires clear insight into all the data capabilities in FBS and defining where and how to position these in the target Data and IT architecture.
  • The Product Owner FBS has an important role to play in defining and executing the strategy to migrate towards the future target, while at the same time also continuing BaU processes and managing shorter-term change requirements.
  • This requires the ability to grasp the complexity of it, articulate and bring across conflicting interests, strategy, and solutions within the team and the broader context he/she operates in.

Working environment

The teams consist of 27 fte’s (4 Finance including the PO, 23 IT) allocated to sub-focus groups with functional seniors. You operate within the Finance Grid and are part of the grid's leadership team; you report to the Grid Owner Finance. Apart from FBS, the Grid consists of the ALM domain, the Controlling domain, the General Ledger domain, the Beam domain, and a central Value Propositioning Team. The Finance Grid is part of the Finance and Risk Business Grids organization in which all F&R Grids reside. Together with your team, you sculpt future-proof solutions for the Finance function. The Grid consists of approximately 300 colleagues (Finance and IT), who share the passion for continuously improving the added value and compliance of our deliveries. You also contribute to the medium and long-term strategy for the Finance and Risk landscape. Different views are valued and respected, and providing a new perspective is encouraged.

Your profile

  • Bachelor/Master’s Degree in Economics, Finance, Business Administration, Exact Sciences.
  • You have good knowledge of the finance accounting function and regulations, banking products, financial institutions, and risk management.
  • Knowledge or affinity with COBOL and the mainframe of the bank is a plus (as this is the current technology being used).
  • Experienced in interacting with various stakeholders across departments in the bank and senior management.
  • Minimum 8 years working experience in a banking environment.
  • Experience in leadership roles at multiple levels and ambition to grow further in this area.
  • Proactive posture, constructively challenging.
